Ok... I had accidentally posted this last week in the Karaoke forum and had gotten some help, but still not enough..
To date I have tried the following:
MTU - only makes .bin files
CDGRip - dosen't ripp non Karaoke CDs
Power CD+G - dosen't ripp non Karaoke CDs and poor nameing convention
AudioGrabber - Does not seem to support external drives.. Demo issue maybe?
ANY help will be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks

I don't use MTU, but I use CDRWin to rip. And yes, it rips them in .bin files. If you are using MTU, like Knightshow said, you may be able to use it to convert them, but if you are having trouble with that, mp3g toolz will convert them. I use that program. After I rip them, I put all of the .bin files for that cd in a folder. I right-click on the folder, and one of my available options is MP3G Toolz. I select it. When the menu comes up, you want to tell it to convert the files from .bin to audio+g. After it finishes running, your songs will be in Mp3+g format. You can now use them! Good luck.

Actually found that one shortly before you posted Micky...
I Think I like it the best! It dosen't do regular CDs, but it looks as though I'm not going to get the dual functionality out of any program that works to my other specifications.

Are you sure it's not doing regular cd's Audiograbber would be best for that or Nero with the Lame encoder.

I use audiograbber with an older Plextor external and works like a charm.
Maybe it's the model plextor?? Never had a problem

Thank you all who gave input.
After a VERY full day of demo trials, I have a winner!! I have decided that I am going to go with the new release of Tricerasoft "CDG Ripper".
It is going to mean having a seperate progam for CDG and regular CD, but it is better than needing 2 or 3 programs just to get the CDGs recorded how I want them.
It seems to keep a good sound quality, retains a very good sync with the lyrics (where some were as much as half a measure off), has the ability to rip directly to karaoke zip files, and gives more control over your nameing convention.

I've only ever used CDGRip, with no problems. As far as regular CDs, I've always used whatever my internal source was but I believe iTunes would do it too.

iTunes has one small flaw... thefiles ripped by it do not not want to play in PCDJ and vice versa... thus the reason for an outside app for the regular cds.
I guess it is that experience that made me want an outside app to rip my CDGs as well... I'm afraid that if I used the one in PCDJ KJ to ripp, they won't work in another hosting app if I change programs down the road.

itunes is a great jukebox player but the problem is that it uses a commercial mp3 encoder, not a Lame Even at 320k still won't match Lame at 192k

Thanks sw00000p...
I always prefer to look at the "Big Picture" when it comes to compatibility.
In my day job as a computer tech, nothing chaps my azz like incompatibility issues. Dosen't matter if it is hardware or software, incompatibility is a major issue that I try to minimize whenever possible... Incompatibility is the reason I am stuck with an old Win98 computer downstairs so I can access programs that don't want to run on XP or higher.

Computer Tech! IT Guy!
The Karaoke manufactures LOVE to create compatibility issues. So your stuck with their Method.
If you're not carefull, you'll be spending $39.00 here and a little more there!
I've saved a lot of money on karaoke tracks by finding Sales on various formats:
CDG, SCDG, NEO+G(RSQ), MP3+G, JB199(NCG) and Convert them ALL to the same format.
* RIP/Convert Major formats, Back and Forth
* Repair Out of Sync
* Remove Spots
* AUTO Rename / Change Namining Convention
* Change ALL Colors (Including Sweep)
* Print A SongBook
* Remove Duplicates
* Adjust Multiplex Channels
And For You IT Guys, There's An Advanced Section! Waay Beyond Me!
CDGFix Super $70.00... Now That's Stepping Back And Looking At The Big Picture
Kind Regards,
sw00000p
