Hey everyone. I am in a need for a portable effects box for a reasonable price. This is for my set for small venue, mostly in someone's living room. I don't need a rack mount size, would prefer something that's very portable for about $100. I will be using a 8 channel mixer with this and powered speakers with corded mics. Nothing fancy, just enough to give a decent effects. Looked around eBay and found nothing. Thanks in advance.

I would consider going to a guitar shop and trying vocals through some guitar pedals, too.

I was wondering about the guitar effect pedals. There are plenty of those for sale on eBay at a reasonable price. Would they work with vocals well?

I'm not sure. Some probably will, I bet most won't. I would want to try out specific pedals before spending money on them. A guitar store should have a variety of pedals setup for demonstration.

We have (2) probably an older version of the Nanoprobe (at least looks very similar), and using them professionally for at least 8 years, 6 nights a week and never had a problem and they work great.

I used a guitar effect pedal once when my rack unit went down. It worked, but it was a bit "Tin Cupish". You just have to patch it thru your F/X send and return on your board. In a pinch it works fine, but for longterm...I really don't suggest it. Hope that helps a bit...

In that price range the Alesis NanoVerb or PicoVerb are about the only things that come to mind. The NanoVerb is a 18 bit the Pico is a 24 bit unit. They are both fairly limited but will do simple FX and do fall into your price range. If you can find yourself a used TC Helicon VoiceTone Create pedal that might be an option also. They are 24 bit with a sample rate of 48khz, very respectable and quite flexible. Guitar pedals are not a good option for many reasons.

Thanks for the info everyone. I found a few NanoVerb right now on eBay for about $30-40 range. I am going to watch and try to bid on those near the end of the auction. I also found Behringer 24-Bit Stereo Multi-FX Processor FEX800 on Amazon for about $50 brand new. Anyone know anything about that unit? Thanks.

Ive got a DOD multi efx unit that is made to be at the base of a singers stand so he can change efx with his foot. it has a bunch of options and sounds pretty good. I have used it on an effects send - before and it worked well. its not a pro unit but works and sounds like what you are looking for. I don't use it , guess i could let it go for $50 if you wanted it. it has 1/4 and xlr connections too by the way

I bought a Behringer FEX800 for $25 several months ago (normally sells for about $40). I fill in in a club where I use the house system, and wanted a bit more control over vocal effects than what their house mixer, a Mackie CFX12, offered. It has ended up being a fun toy to play with, and at the price, you probably won't find any other 24 bit effects box with more capability.

There are those with less-than-glowing reviews of Behringer equipment, but they really do have some gems here and there. This one is not bad, at ll.. Nice and clean.

I agree with the behrenger effects. That company gets knocked for no real reason. I have several pieces they make and never have problems with my gear.
