Why is it that the producers of karaoke tracks can't get the lyrics right? It's irritating to try to sing through a song and edit the lyrics in your head. You'd think the manufacturers would be able to come up with the correct lyrics before producing the song. Some errors are so obvious, you'd think they are trying to screw it up on purpose. Ever hear of Quality Control?
Ok... I feel better now.

LOL Moonrider I love that site. But really... there's a difference between someone mishearing the words on the radio & introducing errors in your product. If I did my job like the folks who add the lyrics to karaoke tracks, I'd be filing for unemployment benefits.

yep, and even SC got a few wrong in their day...
One of my favorites was watching a guy sing at Lonnie's show, and he and the singer had worked out the routine... the guy was singing the correct lyrics "What cha doin' on yout back", where on the screen it was "what ya doin' on your bed"...
And of course, the lesser manus have LOTS of misrepresented lyrics... Dangerous was probably one of the worse, yet their music was sooooo good!

Yeah, what Danny said. I think some can get away with saying it is a parody and slip by the licensing fees, that way.

we had heard the same rumor... if the lyrics were say ten percent off, then it didn't qualify... Not so according to SC. They said that's an internet rumor in trying to figure out why some folks just screwed up! !

"Just a Rant - Stoopid Lyrics"
Okay so is the heading STOOPID mispelled for a reason or just another STUPID typo?

That is pretty funny.
I have a terrible ear for picking up lyrics. I 'm still uncovering lyrics that I thought were one thing but turned out to be another. In some cases I'm so used to thinking the song in my own version, I'd almost rather karaoke it that way! The correct words just don't seem right.
Slight drift here, but the above head of the Church comment reminded me of a story from my brother a few days ago.
He and his 4 year old were in Church. There was this lady behind them really getting into one of the songs, singing it louder than everybody.
My nephew tugs on his dad's sleave. He points behind them to the lady. He tugs on his sleeve again and points behind them to the lady. And then he covers his ears! A kid can get away with stuff that adults can't!

Last Sat we had a case of bad lyrics being the most entertaining thing all night. But in all fairness, I'm trying to find the correct lyrics and every site on the internet has something different.
The song in question is "Gentle On My Mind." We had a usually very serious Elvis singer decide to branch out and try the Glen Campbell version. Not only was it already a million word per minute song but the words were totally bizarre and the singer kept tripping up and we were all on the floor and he was having trouble staying upright, also. Besides substituting for "ivy," "I be clinging to the columns now that bind me," near the end of the song came, "My beard rests on a cold towel." I think we had some involuntary urination at that point. The singer and everyone else were in such hysterics by then that at closing a couple of them went looking for somewhere else open as they didn't want the night to end.
The version on the CMT website was equally as puzzling as they labelled the song "explicit" and censored it to, "Hold you to my b****t and find."
But you WOULD think that when a karaoke company was getting a license to reproduce a song that they would be provided with the correct lyrics.

I sang one version of "Hero of the Day" by Metallica that was so mangled the publishers should be brought up on charges.
Among other errors, instead of "Mama they try and break me" they had "never try and break me". James Hetfield's vocals are pretty easy to understand, provided you understand English.
ETA: Probably made in the same country where "Mary Lou" calls you at home concerning your Discover card but her accent is so thick you have problems understanding her. Then when you can't understand her, she gets pissy and hangs up.

I have a version of Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker/Livin', Lovin' Maid" (All Hits, I believe) that has "With a purple operator and fifty percent hair" Instead of, "With a purple umbrella and a fifty-cent hat". It's also the version that has the ACTUAL Led Zeppelin music. No chance of that one being legally produced!
Luckily, usually only true Zeppelin afficionados try that one, and they almost always have the lyrics memorized.
