Yeah I agree there, a 15 minute song I wouldn't allow. An 8-9 minute song is pushing the limits.

Admittedly these are backing tracks and not karaoke, but if you really wanted that track, Jeff does a great job of creating a backing track.... all he needs is an mp3 of the original. http://www.backingtracks.co.uk/custom.phpI don't know what the current exchange rate is but I didn't see too many people in this thread that were willing to even pay 35 Dollars for a single track. I'm sure that Jeff's tracks are wonderful and I'm sure they take a long time to produce but the average karaoke singer today doesn't even want to pay $35 for an entire karaoke disc with 15 songs on it. The pricing of karaoke tracks are the biggest reason why so many people try to get their songs on loaded hard drives from e-bay for a penny a song or get them on line for free. I don't really care if there were not "too many people in this thread that were willing to pay even 35 Dollars". The fact is I was responding directly to one person in particular who indicated he would be willing to pay $50. Anybody who is not prepared to spend that kind of money need not have taken any notice of the information I provided. I was merely attempting to give some helpful information to RLC. As far as the quality of Jeffs tracks is concerned, I have purchased a number of tracks from various sources, but it is my opinion that Jeffs' tracks are some of the best backing track I have. As for pricing? I have had Jeff create a number of custom tracks for me at a cost of around $75 each. I have a wish-list of tracks I'd like to have and one medley track in particular which Jeff has just quoted me at 118 pounds sterling (the track is around 15 1/2 minutes long). I am currently considering placing an order for this and other tracks.... yes, I will pay that much for a track I really desire as singing is a hobby I really enjoy and God knows I used to pay a heck of a lot more each year on my hobby when I owned my yacht! As a heads up to any who might be considering ordering a custom track from Jeff, he has notified me that because of an influx recent orders, there is a 6 - 8 week delivery time... What would you do with a 15 and a half minute long song? You wouldn't dare hand that in at a regular karaoke gig, would you? People seem to groan quite a bit when they hear the intros to Paradise by the Dashboard Light or American Pie. I can't even begin to imagine the reaction to a singer bringing in a custom made track that was 15 minutes long. If I were the KJ, I'd only let you sing 5 minutes of it in each rotation. or I'd skip you the first 2 rotations and explain it to everyone during the third rotation why you were singing a 15 minute song. I guess if I had the kind of money that would allow me to own a yacht, I'd have some musicians on the payroll that could make any song I wanted to sing. I'd find one of those bars that had live band karaoke shows and offer the house band a good price to record some songs for me when they are in their rehearsals. I don't know how much a band like that charges for a nightly gig of doing live karaoke but they could record an awful lot of songs in a 4 hour session. Let's just say that they could record 10 songs an hour and they get $300 for doing one of these karaoke gigs. You could get 40 songs recorded for $300. That's only $7.50 per track. Then all you have to do is make the graphics files and you're all set. I don't know if I could even think of 40 songs that I'm dying to have at this point but I'd sure like to give it a try. Maybe I could split the cost of the band with Murrlyn and we could get 20 songs each. Murrlyn would have to pay a little bit more than me because of that 15 & 1/2 minute song though. I just want to say that I think it's great that Jeff is so busy that the wait is 6 to 8 weeks to get a song made by him. I wish I could afford to pay his prices but most KJ's have 50,000 songs these days and if I can't find something to sing out of that many songs, I should just give up singing.
Hmmmm? Why give up singing, just bring your own disk?

Back on track. I answered 25 bucks becasue when I was first building my libary, I was salivating at getting Henry Gross Shannon and was it tough to fine! I bought an entire disk and with shipping it was nearly 25 bucks and the rest of the songs? Well, have never been sung yet.
What I would really like to get is Devil Went Down to Jamiaca. There is a video on youtube of someone singing it, anyone seen this karaoke song for sale on disk or download anywhere? I would pay 15 bucks for it.

There is a homemade version of Devil Went Down to Jamaica that is pretty good. Someone asked for it a while back and I sent him a copy of it. I forget who it was. It's homemade so I guess that means sharing it isn't violating any laws. I'm pretty sure you can hear the background singers singing the word Georgia instead of Jamaica but it's better than nothing.

As a KJ for songs that a singer requests (but without paying for them) no more than $5-10. For a regular singer the 5-10 price is the limit, for a request from a singer who has only been to one or two shows probably no more than $2-3.
As a singer maybe $25 or even $50. I cant see myself going through the expense of doing it custom by ordering it, for anything I cant find as of now. BUT who knows if some song gets stuck in my head that I know I can sing who knows.

I guess I have to raise my high price quote since I just bought two Springsteen backing tracks from across the pond. They were 5 British Sterling pounds each. I'll be singing some new one of a kind songs this weekend at karaoke once I make my graphics files.

So I guess I'm not going to be able to do One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer at your show? I promise not to follow it with White Bird In A Golden Cage.

I'd pay a little more if I could find "Nutshell" or "Down In A Hole" by Alice In Chains.
Or for some obscure "Soundgarden" tunes.
The problem with this karaoke stuff is, everybody wants to sing the same tired old songs.....the good ones aren't even offered.
Oh, also, "Sex Type Thing" or "Wicked Garden" by Stone Temple Pilots.
I'm as close as the pm button if anyone wants to make a buck.

If I am granted a download licence, I'll have a go at one or two of these. I couldn't guarantee the accuracy of the sounds, I'd just do them for practice, but it would sound good and worth having.
If PRS are nice to me with the licence, doing requests as downloads would be a little more practical as I won't have to invest in pressing thousands of discs.

Hello all
I'd go $25.00 if I HAD to have the song.
Heck it's less then one hour of work or so and I'l have it for a lifetime.
Chances are that I'd be the first person to sing it, then when others found out I had it, they would use it. But I like to have my stuff 1st

Hello!
I have paid from $65 to $100 per song to be professional recreated in a studio. My regulars have collected money for song requests, and I match those funds and they get the songs they want. It's worked out well. I like being known as the host that has the songs that nobody else has. I have over 20 tracks created at a great studio that will make pretty much any song for $65 per song. They pay the same license that Sunfly and other overseas manufactures pay, so it's legit. I make the graphics myself, but don't do any selling.
If anyone has been looking for a particular song on karaoke and does not want a cheap midi sounding version or a lame vocally masked copy, please message me with your request. Maybe I already have it or I would help with the cost to make it. Thanks!
Kevin
