hi can anyone help i have just set up karaoke and the sound is really poor , i have used the mixer before and it was ok also music sounds ok but singer quality really bad any doesn't seem to be any clarity , i am using 500w kam speakers nd a behringer 400wx400w amp and mixer any advice about settings etc

Tina,
I am moving this to the Tech Forum where it will get more att.
Please give more detail; ie mic use, and the setting of the mic channel. was any efx used? and if so what?

Are you using an effects package, either on your mixer or a separate unit.

You have the microphones plugged into a channel on the mixing amp, not into the karaoke player, correct?
#1: The mics should be plugged into the mixer.
#2: I suggest the following settings for the vocal/mic channel:
Set High and Mid to about 2 o'clock.
Set Low to 9 o'clock.
These settings will sound better for the typical singer, but may need to be tweaked a bit for guys with real husky voices (cut more of the low knob) or girls with real squeaky voices (cut the high, mids and raise the low a bit).
That might help you.
If not, let us know what options you have on the channel where the microphone is plugged in, and we should be able to help. Good luck!

I worked again last night and it did sound better but not totally happy still the clarity on the mic ...they were expensive mics but had them 7 years now do you think that may be problem thanks for your help .

What are the models/makes of the mics? Have you ever cleaned the mic screens? Over years of use they can collect alot of spit & other gunk, unscrew the mic screens & carefully pull the foam out of it & clean them in hot soapy water.
