Hi, I'm Mary (Maryoke) from Iowa. I've been singing all my life, sang in a band in college (vocal music major) and sang as a duo from '94-'96. When my singing partner moved away, I started my karaoke business. I live in rural NW Iowa and maybe average 2 gigs a month. I have a good selection of music, I run good equipment, and I do my best to make my singers sound good. I have always used CDG's, and wouldn't consider using bootlegged music. But I would like to join the 21st century and computerize my music. My JVC player that used 6 packs lasted for about 10 years, and I loved not having to handle discs. But now I'm getting tired of handling individual discs. I'm pretty computer illiterate and my kids are gone, so I need HELP. What kind of laptop and programs do I need to load my CDG's and print my books? Thanks!!

Hi Mary,
I'm not tech savvy, and I'm only a singer with some of his own discs, so I can't help ya with the 21st century jump. But if you've checked out the site at all, you'll have notice people here are cool and will give you plenty of ideas and which route to go.

Welcome.

Hi Mary

You'll want to post in the tech forum. They can help you better there.

Welcome aboard !

Welcome to the forum Maryoke. The answer to your question about computerizing, will take a little more info, so I suggest you post your question on either the discussion, or tech forum. The main things we'll have to know are, budget, and how automated you want to be. Again, Welcome.
