Just starting out and I'm in need of short pencils. Do I go to the local miniture golf place and grab a hand full or is there a better place to find them? Going to jail for a few bucks really ain't my gig. Thanks in advance...

Try Staples, Office Max or Office Depot, they all carry golf pencils. A box should only run you a couple of dollars.

I go around to businesses, and offer them free advertising for pens and pencils. I actually have recieved $50.00 birddog fees from several car lots for advertising that led to car purchases. just from having their pens in my songbook. you can also get them to pay for the printing of the books by putting a full page ad in the back cover, or flashing ads on the screen between songs.......

Misprint golf pencils can be as low as $1.00 for 144, or less than a penny apiece.

I get mine off of Ebay. My most recent purchase was an entire box of 144 pencils shipped for about $5 total.

They were pink and had the Florida Lottery logo on them, but they work fine.

Got mine at the dollar store. 144 for a buck.
I also carry a small sharpener so I can touch them up when they get dull.
I lose a few pencils every night, but oddly, I gain pens that people leave behind.

I have purchased golf pencils at Staples, about $6 for a big box of them. They don't usually walk at the end of the night but only because nobody seems to want to carry around a dull pencil. They require constant sharpening to avoid difficult to read slips.

I am a goodwill/second hand store hound. I have found HUGE bags of perfectly good, unused, still wrapped pens that have been dropped off by businesses that may have gone out of business - nice pens for cheap. Whenever I see a big bag of them, I pick them up, usually $1.99 or so for 50-60 pens. Yah, I lose some, but it is my experience that most people appreciate using a pen to write their slips, and it makes my job easier reading them.

If you binders for your song books, this is another great resource for binders - I don't ever pay $6 or $8 for a new large binder when I can pick them up for $2 apiece, all sizes and colors.

I haven't gone as far as getting a sponsor but I might just try that, too, for pens, slips, etc.)

Just another option if you have the time and energy. I also have found a lot of new and used CDGs at these stores.

Yep, Golf Pencils at Staples is quick and dirty. $3.99 here for 144. Easy.

Check your waitresses stations at the bar u work at. All the pens and pencils that disappear end up with the waitresses. They are not being taken home by custies. The waitresses simply dont bother to return them to u. Should be enough with them to keep the karaoke pen/pencil holder full.
