I have my compuhost software, fasttracks and I have started ripping my discs. I have been told that the newest version of CH has an updated version of CDrip that is all I need to upload my cd+g discs. I am not in a big hurry but I am ripping at the optimal speed that cuts about 4 disc per hour or less. I want excellent quality replay so my question is: should I stick with the optimal setting or is there a better alternative that doesn't compromise quality of plyback and lyric synchronization. I have downloaded 25 discs without checking for playback since it is all suppose to work as described especially at optimal speed. What do you think about a speed change and my chances of getting excellent quality.

I rip at the fastest speeds that don't introduce garble into the graphics. Some discs actually need to be ripped slower or faster to get some garble cleared up.
As far as ripping quality, rip at the best quality - hard drives are cheap these days!

From my experiences; encode at anything over 192k with a good Lame encoder and at 4-8x speed  CH uses the Bass engine so you'll get a great sound and the graphic will depend on your speed and drive compatibility.

I am ripping at optimal speed, the reccomended variable bit rate, and the bit rate quality reccomended by the manual of 75% in the zipped mp3+g format. Does that sound good.

The optimal speed was set to be the BEST ripping speed. I also have Compuhost, and ripped mine with cdgrip @ optimal speed. Works fine, but I would suggest "testing" at least one track on each disc after ripping, but that's just me. If I know the songs, I usually check the one that I think has the most complicated arrangement. No scientific reason, that's just the way I do it, you never know if there was a smudge, dust, or whatever.

Thanks to all, I may be dead by the time I finish but I recall everyone saying it would be painstaking.

Just time consuming. But worth it.
