Those of you that work based on a percentage of nightly sales, what is the percentage? I have been lobbying for a raise on my Wednesday nights for a while. It is a hit or miss night when I might have 50 people and I might have 150 people. The percentage route may be a good way to go on that night. So what is your general percentage formula?

I will not work a percentage unless I have been at that venue for awhile and have a very good honest relationship with the owner and management. When you have a good idea of the z tape get a percentage that will add $25-$50 above your base price. This is equitable to both.

The one place we do it is 20% of net (ie less tax, here where I am) sales from 6pm to closing time (2am). For a Tuesday night we average $170.00 a night over a year. For a Tuesday, that ain't bad and pays a few bills.

I have had 2 different sales total jobs. I lost money on both. One had a bartender that wasn't ringing up all the sales. One the bar owner refused to ban a troublemaker that was chasing away good paying customers.

In both cases i lost a lot of money. You can not control a bartenders actions and you are not standing beside them watching to see them ring every sale. You can not regulate the bar owners actions. I'll never do it again for any reason at any bar. I don't need to work that bad. I have seen more than one bartender over the years that hurt the final sales out come. I wouldn't recommend anyone do it unless you are despirit for work. You never really know if the bar owner is using the same times and method to judge the tape total unless they show it to you.

Well it's not really a percentage.
When I started there were about ten people in.
It's not a local's pub and it's small. I got £40. (GBP)
About ten weeks on there are 30-35 people in.
I get £75 -80 (GBP).
Thing is... I love it.
I would do it for nothing. :D
I spend more on it than I get from it.
Sad or what...
