This is a shock to hear. Knightshow was certainly a logical thinker around here. We did not always agree in the short time I have been on here but he was a critical thinker & I always respected his thought out views.
Condolances to his family & friends....

Whenever I learn of the passing of an acquaintance, friend, or loved one, I always remember the following by Brian Chalker. I posted it on my website in memory of my late fiancé and used it in her eulogy as well.
Reason, Season and Lifetime
People always come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
or to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they just walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON,
it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
And like Spring turns to Summer and Summer to Fall,
the season eventually ends.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway);
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being part of my life.
~©Brian A. "Drew" Chalker~

I don't know about anyone else, but MrD keeps waiting for Matt's trademark replies to some of these new threads. Very Saddened that they will not be appearing...

Anyone know any of Matt's personal faves to sing? I'd like to sing one in his honor at my show next Friday.

Hi,
I knew many of you from the old Jolt forum (I used to post as NewbieKJ there)...
Lonnie, I got to know Matt in person when he moved out here to Kansas City. He told me he'd had the privilege of meeting you and I just wanted you to know that he thought VERY HIGHLY of you and your show.
Ripman asked about any songs that Matt used to sing... I got to go out a couple of times with Matt and Ruthie to shows and I always remember him performing "Do It Again" by Steely Dan as his first song. I also have heard him do "Cheeseburger In Paradise" and recordings of him doing "Dream Weaver" and "Silent Lucidity".
Here's a tribute I wrote for Matt, such as it is...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a man passes from this world we know into the next, people tend to look at what he left behind to evaluate his life and legacy.
In some cases, it's easy to tell when a great man has passed, because they leave things that are easy for us to see. Things such as wealth, power, original books, art, music, inventions -- these things impress us.
Some people would view Matt as an ordinary man, because he didn't leave those things behind. Those people would be wrong!
Yes, it's true that Matt wasn't rich unless you count the friendships he made. Matt and Ruthie drove over a hundred miles each way to come to my wedding.
Matt didn't write any books unless you count the massive volumes of help and advice he gave people over the internet.
Matt didn't carve statues in granite or paint on canvas. Matt was a karaoke host and for Matt karaoke was a passion and an art.
The elements of Matt's artistry were found in the friendly nod of encouragement, the little joke and the right song at just the right time all combined so as to magically transform a room full of lonely strangers into a room full of friends.
As you reflect upon Matt's life remember paintings fade. Even granite statues erode to dust. Matt's work was engraved upon the souls of all who knew him and it's the soul that lasts forever.

Thanks BigJer. Nice to know the little but good things about a member of our forum. Wish I could have met him. I will take on Dream Weaver or Do It Again in honor of Matt next week.

Like most, having heard this for the first time about 10 minutes ago I'm still feeling somewhat confused. Matt was full of life, and he was quite a vocal member of this site. In the time I'd known him he had his share of low lows, but life came around for him within the last few years, he'd bought the house, married, and it seemed life was on an upswing for him. I haven't been around much but Matt was a very outgoing presence here in Karaoke scene.

OMG,
What a shock.
I was out of the country and rarely look here lately, so I just heard.
Every forum has a few people who give it life. I think everyone agrees KNIGHTSHOW was one here. He helped me with my one small question months ago. I lurked through many, many of his posts as a beginner. He was one whose comments were always worth a look. What a loss.
