What I am tring to find out is what are people's reactions to some newly released "Piracy" propaganda that everday ordinary people are allowed to pass out (mail) authorized by these National Karaoke Associations. :withstupid:

I think he's bringing up a certain 4 letter word which contains a "K" and three vowels two of which happen to be "A" without actually using the initials, but no I haven't seen any anti-Piracy literature in my area.

If you would like to actually enter into the real world I could arrange interviews with bar owners, hosts that are actually fighting these issues and have viable solutions and even a few hosts that operate with illegal hard drives. The war is in the trenches not on the internet and lawsuits will not alleviate the problem.. RIAA proved that.. Come join us instead of coming up with plans that are based upon gawd only knows what.

Maybe it's just me, but when you use the word "propoganda" it sounds like you have something against them. Hope not.

Are you for or against piracy?

I'm not too keen on the fact that they ( KIAA) is soliciting membership with their "propaganda", but I Am more than happy that they are doing SOMETHING about piracy.

Propoganda is the appropriate word:

-publicity to promote something: information put out by an organization or government to promote a policy, idea, or cause.
-misleading publicity: deceptive or distorted information that is systematically spread.

The only "Poop" I've seen is on KS. I never heard of them before that. Now that seems a bit interesting doesn't it?) It even caused me to look up their website and check it out. (Hmm even more interesting) Seemed like maybe an answer to piracy which caught my attention, but after reading and researching I have decided it isn't in my best interest. The only "Poop" I have is in my litter box where it belongs. :D

Apparently there are some people on this forum that do "NOT" want anyone to be informed or educated about "PIRACY" issues so they purposly sabatoge the "POOP" threads to get them pulled so no one can read about or make any kind of informed dicision about what is happining in the world of legal karaoke operators. Oh by the way I am for Piracy freekaraoke clubs and operators but I still think this should be done on a local or State level with National support. If they want to eat cake, let them eat cake but make them pay for it first...

Why should I care about other people's systems and music? My stuff is legal and I have an skb case with all my stuff to prove it. My (@$%&#!) is covered.... should I care if joe blow doing a show down the road is legal? He will eventually get whats coming to him if he's not.

I'm not saying don't talk about it. It is a semi-important topic... but it seems everyday there is a new thread about it. If you are that worried about other people then play karaoke police and go to local shows and ask to see their disc collection... if they don't have one, report them or whatever it is that will make you feel more comfortable with what you have.

p.s.
I'm not trying to be a jerk... just putting in my 2 pennies... ranting about piracy on these forums does nothing to help the cause... if you wanna help then do something more productive than just posting about how much you hate it.

Well it is their forum.
They can post pretty much what they want.
I don't read what I have no interest in.

Apparently you dont realize that the negative reactions are from REAL kj's in the trenches that deal with this problem ALONG WITH SEVERAL MORE on a daily basis. WE have the real facts. We know people who operate preloaded hard drives and we know what general reactions to it are from John Q and bar owners. WE have to deal with known facts and known legal structures. We cant get involved in half baked schemes which strike most of us as a scam out of Scotsdale AZ. I for one does not want to be associated with it. I did not like kapa and I do not like the newer version of it.

Why is the focus and all of the blame put upon us who are here putting up a real battle against ALL OF THE PROBLEMS and we do not have a mania about what you call piracy. This is only a small part of it and as long as the focus is on it exclusively then problems will not be solved. If you want education then come to greeley I will show you first hand what is going on providing you introduce yourself as a comrade with the same goals and not some unknown on the net that seems to have your own objectives. If you want to roll up your sleeves and help us then stand and introduce yourself. If not then quit insinuating that we are pirates or dont realize what the problems are. It is evident to most on here that you dont.

If I have to start putting a disclaimer on this forum to post then I will cease to post.

Have you contacted the KIAA, DJ Dangerus? I have and it's impossible to get any feedback. This outrage isn't about pro or con piracy, it's about being smarter than a fifth-grader.

KAPA and KIAA are registered through the same proxy service and hosted on the same servers. Is that a coincidence or a matter of 'pushing the reset button' with a different strategy when one failed?

There's one name central to all these IP infringement, social media strategy, and piracy endeavors. See some people are smarter than the average bear. Some people seize opportunities on the roads to riches. Some people strike fear into the heart of the guilty and prey on the good intentions of the innocent. The question isn't about who is for or against piracy, it's who is behind this faction that's throwing the strong arm into our sport. If they were legit, they'd be transparent. There wouldn't be a need for undercover agents to stalk karaoke shows and levy threats against their competitors. If an organization stands for something great, offers something for a fee, and communicates openly (creates trusting relationships), then KJs, venues, and retailers would be flocking to their door.

One name crops up under every rock in all this. Just because manufacturers are on board, doesn't mean there's any legitimacy to the efforts. He wants to corner his market. He's taking bold steps. He sees an opportunity to draw in KJs and venues to line his pockets. Joining the KIAA doesn't get you anything, except endeavors and advocacy ... nothing concrete. See there doesn't have to be anything concrete, and that's the beauty of it all.

If you've been in the business long enough, and researched enough you know that it's going to take a mammoth enterprise to tackle piracy. And believe me you, it's not going to start with a karaoke revolution. The RIAA represents the entire recording industry in the USA and has failed to make a dent in piracy. If anything, they've made it worse. It's not going anywhere any time soon. The man behind KAPA and KIAA can't mount the resources to do something the RIAA couldn't. Think about it, will the lobbyists in DC do something about a fledgling industry like karaoke before it does something for the entire music business?

These lawsuits in AZ aren't going to produce anything but maybe drive a few people out of the local market. No precedent will be set for copyright infringement with karaoke tracks. Are these lawyers going to uncover something the RIAA lawyers couldn't? But they do do one thing that for the time being seems effective, and that is to get people talking. The person behind all this lives and breathes the represented DJ/KJ scene, and this is probably clearing his market for monopolization. He's part of many DJ, wedding, karaoke, and social media organizations. He owns over 80 websites, blogs all over the net, and if I'm not mistaken has an alias or a few. Why not? There's no interpretable laws to say one way or another. Piracy is a world-wide problem. It needs a world-wide solution from the top (you know the multibillion dollar types like Sony).

The aforementioned organization is looking for martyrs. They're asking people to covertly stalk shows and disrupt the lives of bar owners, bartenders, DJs/KJs to shrink the market. This reaks of unionization - grassroots and pointless.

When the driving forces unite in the light of day, and every is on the table for all to see, so there aren't questions about motive or intent, then we can talk about what they might be able to do for us, or what we might be able to do for ourselves.

I don't want undercover patsies at my show. Someone wants to know what I do, see how I do it, I'll show 'em. I have built my equipment inventory, music library, and fan base on good faith. Why should I allow a rogue agency to dictate what I can and can't do with it. They want to start handing pamphlets out in the place(s) I work, and bringing suits against me and my fellow KJs because they know they can without recourse ... I'm not down with that. When you support organizations like this that's what you're opening yourself up to, whether you think you're legitimate or not!!!!!! This is America, former land of the free!!!!!!!!!!!

So please, all of you who think the only reason one could resist something like this is because one has something to hide, or is pro-piracy ... WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!

With that said, this thread can now be deleted.

If your going to point fingers because of where someone is from then you sir have serious issues. It's no wonder YOUR organizations fail as previously stated.

Making remarks about where he is from shows just how mature YOUR organization is.

See what I did there?

Just curious....

Did the RIAA go after DJs playing in venues with loaded HDs of music?

If you or anyone else can answer that question with some references I would like to see it.

All I remember is that the RIAA went after file sharing. Using the tatic of going into venues with undercover personnel to witness what is going on, & to collect evidence to decide whether civil litigation should be pursued, sounds new. Did the RIAA do this too?

If a cop fxcks up a crime scene it's thrown out of court, and they've gone through extensive training. Who is conducting these investigations, 'cause last I remember you said you're doing investigative work? What qualifies you? If I have someone in my neck that I'd like to have 'investigated', do I call someone, is it anonymous or do I do it myself? What's protecting you from retribution from the KJs you oust? Is part of the KIAA's benefits that they offer protection?

So this is more mob style justice than anything. Do you see what I'm getting at with this?
