This topic is meant to see what is new and popular at this time around the globe, and to give others ideas on which to possibly add to their collections. Thanks for sharing! -john reynolds

I ordered a lot of Duffy from Selectatrack and have two amazingly talented (should be professional singers) who take turns with all those songs - I think I ordered 7?
Warwick Avenue (Duffy)
Syrup and Honey (Duffy)
Stepping Stone (Duffy)
(Don't remember names of others right at this moment)
I Told You So by Carrie Underwood
Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis
I Will Be - Leona Lewis (? title)
I have a lot of singers who order the latest and greatest and go from show to show so they bring their own - One fellow sings two of David Cook's songs and does a great job; he also does Shinedown "Second Chance."
Not a lot of latest stuff at my shows - more great singers singing classics. Wish I did get the newer stuff as there is so much of it.

It's kind of hard for me to list just ten if the timeframe is two years out. But I'm going to try to do, to the best of my memory, ones that are being sung right now by a wide variety of singers rather than the ones that have peaked and are now not sung as much.
Poker Face - Lady Gaga
Sittin' at a Bar - Rehab
So What - Pink (use SF for all your Pink and your ladies will be happy. )
Boom Boom Pow - BEP
Shattered - O.A.R.
That's Not My Name - Ting Tings
Take A Bow - Rihanna
If I Were A Boy - Beyonce
Single Ladies Put A Ring On It - Beyonce
Handlebars - Flobots
I'm sorry I cant stop with ten!
Closer - Ne-Yo
The Flo Rida raps - Low, In The Ayer, and especially this summer Right Round
Please Don't Leave Me - Pink
Paparazzi - Lady Gaga
I'm Yours - Jason Mraz
Womanizer - Britney Spears
Something In Your Mouth - Nickelback
Sober - Pink (I have a lot of Pink singers)
Lollipop - Lil' Wayne
I'm sure I forgot some and may go back and add later.
There so far has not been a real hot song this year like "Bleeding Love" "I Kissed A Girl" "Hot N Cold" and to a lesser extent "Sittin' At A Bar" were last year. Those songs everyone just lasered in on, and it was tough to referee when several singers wanted to to them every night. This year has been more spread out among more songs. I didn't even list the Katy Perry songs up there because they got so worn out that they aren't done much now.
Also I need to give a special mention to "Chicken Fried". Even though my room doesn't do much country this song just keeps popping up from time to time, and from both men and women of all ages.

We don't get requests for anything new at our venue, even in country. The newest anyone has requested we get are Nickelback songs and one guy does "If Everyone Cared," pretty regulary. I still buy some current hits but usually I'm the only one who attempts them.

Good answers so far. thanks! It IS hard to stop at only 10 songs but i understand some shows are smaller than others and have the same old songs performed weekly with little new ones included. A club down the street hasn't updated their books in 5 years.
Thanks and good list Babs. i need to get to know more popular country songs too.
I also have more songs to add Bill! It seems we have the same room of kids!
Karen i have one singer who only sings songs by Duffy. -she's kind of doofy.
MORE:
That's Not My Name- ting tings
Shut Up & Let Me Go- ting tings
Pokerface- lady gaga
Blame It- jamie foxx
Better In Time- leona lewis
Love Story- taylor swift
Umbrella- rihanna
If I Were A Boy- beyonce
Single Ladies- beyonce
Viva La Vida- coldplay
What Hurts The Most- cascada
Closer- ne yo
All Summer Long- kid rock
Far Away- nickelback
American Boy- kanye/estelle
..and 10 Michael Jackson songs....

I dont get that much in requests for New stuff.
Most of the artists/songs i get requests for are 10+ years old, even though about half of of my singers are in their 20s.
Among bands that I get a few requests for that are relatively new:
Among the only songs that are from the 2000s in the top 400 songs of the last 5 months (30 shows, 1766 songs)
894 different songs
Muse -Time is running out
Flight of the Conchords - Most Beautiful girl in the room
Gnarls Barkley- Gone Daddy Gone
The killers - When You Were Young
Evanescence - Bring me to life
White Stripes - Fell In Love with A Girl
I have a lot of current stuff, and many have been sung once, but that is the exception not the rule.

John almost all of the songs you've listed have been touched on in my room as well. Our singers do think alike.
"Shut Up And Let Me Go" was done a lot by the Ting Tingers in my room until "That's Not My Name" came out. Because "That's Not My Name" is a better dance number they all switched over to it.
And maybe just a better song. It's the perfect stupid song that you can't get out of your head.
"Umbrella" was another one that was just done to death at one time but it still comes up enough that I should have listed it. "Love Story" is in that category as well, along with the Colbie Caillet numbers "Realize" and Bubbly". "Apologize" is also one of the older ones in this timeframe you've set up but is still sung by two regulars.
edit: Two other newish country songs that I should have included with "Chicken Fried" Zac Brown:
"Gunpowder And Lead" Miranda Lambert (common to every room at this point I think) and *gag* "In Color" Jamey Johnson. Fortunately that one hasn't been coming up very much in the last couple of months.

I don't think I can name 10 right now:
Kings of Leon - Use Sombody, Sex On Fire, Notion
Shinedown - Second Chance, Sound of Madness
Killswitch Engage - My Curse
Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas
3OH!3 - Don't Trust Me
Pink - The 2 singles from the newest album
I see many songs listed I wouldn't consider new.
When you say faily new I would say from June at the earliest.

This is the timeframe established for the thread. Of the ones you have listed, Waking Up In Vegas and Second Chance have been done in my room, just not as much as the older ones I listed. However it's always good to see anything KJs put up in the "new" category so I don't want to discourage you. But my own lists were working from a perspective that was further out.

Funny. MOST of what Dr. Fred listed i've never heard, the last two on Bill's list either, and ALL of liquidyes' list i've never heard before.
Maybe because i'm on an island, i don't know. There is a delay with things here.
Come to think of it, most tourists pick the same songs unless they're from L.A. or Washington State. And my first top 10 list is pretty much from only 6 local regulars.
I don't offer the spanish, portugese, german, french, italian, or tagalog songs anymore because it got annoying to the staff and the foreign tourists took over. It got ugly.
Thanks again for your lists. I will look into those songs and determine if any of my regulars are interested in trying them out.

Bill H,
Question for ya. Do you like country? I know you said that not much country is sung at your shows and I was wondering. "In Color" is a newer song with old time country flare. And the older I get, the more I'm appreciating tradition country songs. Not that I'd want to sing it all the time, alot of it is to slow for the bars. Kinda like "In Color", which I happen to love and only sing once in awhile because of it's slow pace.
Again, just wonderin'

I like country well enough to have played piano in a country band for ten years. Like all music I find some good - and not so good - songs in the format.
Not much country is sung in my karaoke show because that's the way I set it up. There is so much country and oldies karaoke going on that I wanted to do something different. Plus I was getting a little tired of country personally anyway. I've got more about my show in the "karaoke brand" thread if you want more info, but it's not necessary to dig it up it's just another karaoke show blah blah - - -
So anyway - I added "In Color" as a request. There's a door/security guy to a popular live music venue who always waves me in no matter who's playing in there. A neat guy to know. He wanted to sing it in my Thursday show (he doesn't work Thursdays) so I picked it up for him. To my surprise as soon as I put it in the books several others started zeroing in on it.
I put my own personal opinion up here, but when anyone sings "in Color" at my show I always thank them warmly. And please don't take my reaction to this song personally. I'm sure that there are many things I sing that you wouldn't like either. It's just personal preference. If you enjoy the song and if it gets a good reaction at your show by all means keep singing it.
There's another country song that I added under similar circumstances. "Good Directions" - Billy Currington. I got it for a specific guy but it gets sung by others now that it's in the book. In fact it was sung in my Saturday show which is why I remembered it just now. This one's uptempo though.

Going from my mental list (rather than querying database)
In Color - Jamey Johnson
Love Story - Taylor Swift
Blame It - Jamie Foxx
Sittin' At A Bar - Rehab
Gunpowder & Lead - Miranda Lambert
Those get requested by multiple singers. Other new songs seem to be the forte of a select few.
Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow & I Got A Feeling
Flo Rida - Right Round (sung with a country twang)
Lots of other songs have come and gone already so I'm having trouble rounding out the top ten! I'll do new Coldplay, Glasvegas Daddy's Gone, One Night Only - Just For Tonight and other UK imports. I expect Beatles songs my pick up a bit more in the next few weeks!

I know it was just your opinion, no reaction here. Again, I was just curious. All is good.
I'm lucky for the places we go and my preference. 1 place country is common. The other places, the KJ's mostly sing country. So we're covered there.
thanks for the response.

I'd like to see a venue that has 10 new songs but they don't promote it unless u ask them. But I've done some Flight of Conchords. Seethers Careless Whisper. Kings of Leons Use Somebody. Weezers Pork n Beans. Asher Roths I Love College. Zac Browns Chicken Fried. Alan Jacksons Good Time
