As a businessman I feel the need to provide a disclaimer on this forum to disassociate my business from certain organiisations or practices or theories preached here. My talents or business comprise of a full package which includes the requirements of any party or wedding. I am in no way Associated with or condone or work with the associations on this forum.

All this time i thought to be a KJ you needed a system and music.

So all i really needed was a web site and pictures. Wow.

4 sale one very good karaoke system and music selection. I need the money for a camera and a web page. Low price for quick sale.

I would have to disagree with you here KARYOKER , I think any legitimate KJ and DJ mobile entertainer who do this FULL TIME should have a website etc. But someone like me who has done this part time for years and work mainly by word of mouth ..I don't need or want . ( I did at times "think" about it" ) doesn't make anyone a phoney . I work 1 or 2 nights a week and to me that's ALL I CAN HANDLE right now so ...no need for additional exposure...unless I want to multi rig and expand and (I've also thought about that in the past) but right now I'm content --working part time for additional well needed money and the fun of it .

I'm in the same boat as jam ... hell, I would gladly trade one of my show nights for ONE good night's sleep. My shows are self promoting, anyway. It's a small town with a decent concentration of watering holes within stumbling distance.

I KJ/DJ at The Grand Cafe in Portland, Oregon. 3 nights a week for the moment. Occaisional fill-in gigs around town. This is a part-time thing for me also.

I also write and photograph Karaoke magazine feature stories for 3 Karaoke related magazines in Seattle and Portland and KS Mag in LA. You can see my upcoming article in KS on the new online DIGITAL EDITION here at KS.

We do not have any kind of computer/lappy/hard-drive system at The Grand so we have NO WORRIES or CONTROVERSY about pirating problems. Just CDG's and good old lasers!! And they got the ASCAP/BMI thing all dealt with last year.

If you take the time to GO LOOK at OLLIE's website you would see that its nicely done and VERY EFFECTIVELY conveys what his venue in GREELEY and his system is all about. Like many of the more successeful KJ's here on KS.

I've posted the insane amount of monkeys at my gig a few yrs back and maybe some pics of parties here and there. I don't have a web site now. I found I really didn't have a need for one. Mainly because I'm not looking for gigs and I had a stalker problem.

I've had people on the forum come to my show. And may I say that is the biggest thrill !

I'm not sure why I need to varify myself, but what the heck.

Like Babs, I don't feel the need to have a website. I am on facebook and the singers who come to my shows know what's going on through that. I am not actively seeking gigs, and I don't have a whole lot of time to take on private stuff but do so selectively (repeat customers year after year). I suppose I can post a pic of my equipment - don't know why I would do that, but maybe someone doubts that I have equipment?

A website does not a successful karaoke business make.

Hey Karen---I think you MUST be doing your whole gig ACCAPELLA!!!! Unless of course you REALLY DO HAVE EQUIPMENT!!!!

I'm with a lot of others who don't have a need for a website anymore. 5 nights a week is plenty of work at 2 venues with zero undercutters in my area that can pry my owners loyalty away from me.

I used to have one for many years for my full service dj company on the mainland, but moved away from the cold an into a semi-retirement phase of sorts. Kj money pays for the traveling we do...

When i'm NOT working, if that's what kj-ing is called, , I avoid karaoke most of the time.

A website and continued hawking my services would give me karaoke burn out- but that's just me. I would rather be surfing!
