Anyone know of a free software solution that can zip multiple cdg+mp3's? I tried that mp3g2zip 1.0 or whatever it's called and it doesn't do at all what it's name implies. I have a few thousand karaoke tracks that are not zipped and that would take ages one by one. Any help would be appreciated!

Actually that same exact software works fine for me....

Do you have both file names (mp3 & cdg) matching each other?

I use mp3g2zip all the time without issues...

file formats are cdg and mp3 and yes they all match exactly. For some reason that cdgmp32zip says it cannot find the cdg on every file, that and when it runs and fails to see the cdg it says "file rename failed" which seems odd to me... I will try the Mp3+gToolz tho. Thanks.

OK so I tried mp3+g toolz and it seems it is what I want but when I run it it says it IS zipping song.cdg (but doesnt display zipping mp3 also) and it does create a zip folder but in the zip folder is the mp3 and NO cdg with it like it says so it is working backwards from what it is displaying. The file names are exactly the same and I even have explorer showing all file extensions just in case that was the issue. Cannot figure out why nothing is working....sigh.

Something odd is definitely going on with your files.
I know Mp3+G Toolz works fine for me.
Maybe some of your files are read only?
Check that, and if so, change that attribute then try again.

Well I found the issue. I forgot that back in the day I made a batch file to make cdg files hidden and forgot to revert them back to unhidden. Apparently if the files are "hidden" the program fails to see them. Works great now. Thanks for the quick replies all.

1. Go to Start|Run and type:
cmd
in the run box. Click OK.
2. type the following in the command prompt:
attrib -h -s
Make sure you add a space after the -s.
3. Drag and drop the file you want to change onto the command prompt window.
4. Press enter.
5. Repeat 2-4 for each file.

Or make a batch file to do a bunch at once:

1. Make a text file in Notepad and call it Unhide.txt.
2. Put the following line of text in the text file and save it:
attrib -h -s %1
3. Close Notepad and rename the text file to Unhide.bat so that it will be treated as a batch script file. (Note that you'll need have extentions for known file types showing, so if they're not a trip to Folder Options is in order.)
4. Drag and drop the files you need to adjust onto the batch file one at a time.

Hope this helps!

Why must you zip the pair of file? What is wrong with leaving them as mp3+g?

Might not have that big a harddrive and trying to save space to add more songs.

That was the original reason zipping was done. It is not a valid reason now; storage is cheap.

It's a valid reason for me. The price difference here from 350 gig to 500 gig to 750 gig to 1T is actually a lot.
Might be cheap where you are but it's still a bug chunk of change for me.
Every penny I can save is worth it.

Most KJ library (mp3g) will fit into a 350gb drive; unziped. I use different file format; .avi and .vob and that use up a hell lot of storage space.
