SEPTEMBER 24--Six women were arrested last night after they allegedly assaulted a female karaoke singer whose performance they panned. The attack occurred at a bar in Stamford, Connecticut, where Leidy Alcantara, 25, had performed a song by Juanes, the chart-topping Colombian singer. According to a police press release, the six arrestees made "derogatory comments about the other female's singing ability (or lack thereof) and then repeatedly punched, kicked and pulled the hair of the victim before leaving the bar." Alcantara, who suffered a chipped tooth and was left with numerous bruises, was treated at a local hospital. Her alleged assailants, pictured in the below mug shots, were nabbed after witnesses followed the women and pointed them out to police. The women--four are 20, two are 19--were charged with assault, conspiracy to commit assault, and breach of peace. Each alleged attacker was released after posting $500 bond, and are scheduled for a court appearance on October 5. Last night's karaoke attack was the third in the past couple of years. A Seattle man was throttled in August 2007 after performing a Coldplay song, while a Wisconsin man was attacked last November following his interpretation of a Ronnie James Dio song.

See with a good sound system you can attract good singers and this bad publicity won't happen to you.

Angel I think I speak for most when I say "Go f.......", well you know the rest. Those so called women were waiting for an excuse to cause trouble. Unfortunately, the victim was the excuse. You are an idiot.

Maybe they had a night full of bad singers and she was the straw that broke the camels back. Maybe she really sucked. Maybe she sang a song they just did or wanted to do. Maybe, they were mad at me and took it out on her.

From the looks of things fellow Americans and those overseas think you're a twit too. In fact anyone who has an ounce of compassion would think that. I am Canadian but count many Americans I met as friends and do not judge people by where they are from but by their character, and Angel, you have none. I don't often rant, but as a retired police officer and still working in the legal profession, I've earned the right to call them as I see them. You lost any shred of respect with me and no dount the majority on this board. I didn't cause it, YOU did.

I think it is interesting to note that none of the atackers were even 21 so should probably not even been in the bar.

I think you have to look at this for what it probably is, racism. The song sung was almost certainly in Spanish. I don't know of any Juanes songs in English. (although I cant say for sure there are none).

While I appreciate the show of solidarity (more than you know!), I've been insulted by far bigger and better than this peon. We Canadians have big shoulders!
BTW, I'm with timberlea on this one. I just judge people by their actions, not where they're from.
As for character, Angel is sorely lacking the moral kind.
