Lately I've been seeing bigger crowds (knock on wood). My slower nights, Wed and Saturday have been packed. I'm hoping this is the end of the summer slump which has been it's worst this year. I think mainly from the economy. Is anyone else experiencing an up swing?

Maybe I shouldn't have used the phrase knock on wood.

Yes Babs, me too. This summer did suck, and I'm not one to worry, but it was challenging.

Nooo,,,, Bob usies enzite. Or however it is spelled. The new commercial is sooo slutty!
Anyway, haven't seen an upswing yet but I did get another call yesterday from an owner who had heard about my show and booked me to two upcoming Saturdays. Does that count?

I talked a local rest/bar owner into doing karaoke (they had started doing western dance 2x/week)...it is only 1mile from our house...it started in June and was REAL slow up until recently..we have been faithfully attending and I told the owner summer is tough for karaoke...it is finally starting to get cool here and people are coming indoors and singing..and spending $$ (the dancers don't spend $$)..

NO. Judging by the breed, I would say it is a rather small dog.

Our Friday shows over the summer have been down only slightly. We started a 7 til 11 Monday show at the same venue on June 1st. It started out big and has been consistantly out performing the Friday show. (less compitition on Mondays?) However; last Friday was probably the slowest night we have ever had at this venue (13 months now), and last night (Monday) was down a bit as well. Had one customer blaming it on the first cold snap of the season. I expect things will pick up again soon - it all cycles. Our shows seem to have a bit of a yo-yo effect anyways, we will have a really big show and then the next week will be slow because the singers that don't like the long rotation stay away. But it always builds back up again soon.
I agree, it is a rather small dog.

Jr2423, didn't you read the directions, if it is still stiff after 4 hours, seek medical attention.

I see cycles.
I build up to a few shows in a row with 30-40 singers for a 3 hour show.
Because of the crowds a lot of people dont get to sing as much as they want, and they don't come back as regularly in the following weeks.
Eventually attendance falls to 20 or so singers and then it starts picking up again.
It seems like a 2 month cycle for me...
Where I am at in the cycle seems to be as important as other factors like the weather.
People may be buying cheaper drinks due to the economy or less of them but they still seem to be getting out. But then my reputation as a good KJ has been spreading as the recession deepens...

Still dead at the local Karaoke bar, but I'm sure that's because they haven't updated the book since Feb 2008! The other bar in town with Karaoke has a clue and keeps their stuff updated.
But I'm sure the local bar is blaming it on the economy

After seeing some of the nurses at our local hospital, I am sure you would not have "that" problem for long.
