InsaneKJ - If I see a fly or two in my house, I just let 'em be. If I see a shxtload of them I break out the swatter. You went overboard with your illegitimate operator posts and it got annoying after awhile - just like a shxtload of flies.
Thanks Jian, for moving them out of the general forum. I think this is the first forum a newbie would visit with regularity and all the bickering would surely drive them off. At least now they have a chance to stick around and be a contributor.

The posts had become morosely redundant for the most part. I happen to agree they needed their own little spot out of the main viewing area.

Come on guys, it isn't that big of a deal. The KJ forum was seldom ever used. Basically any one can join the KJ forum - just ask. If you are that interested in reading legal issues I'm sure that qualifies you for KJ status. I actually like it because when I have the time to read those threads I can get right to them - not much else going on over there.

I'm all in favor of having those threads moved out of the main karaoke forum. It still seems like non-KJ's who are interested should be able to at least read them -- maybe not post though. It gets tedious reading it everyday, but it's interesting to tune in once in awhile. I'm getting conflicting information here. Can a non-KJ at least view these threads or is it strictly for KJ's only?

At tonight's show we had a new couple, singers who drove 60 miles to our show because they read about us somewhere. They were duly impressed with the venue - said it is one of classiest they had seen, said the owner was probably pretty classy based on the appearance of his club. I thanked them profusely, told them about my shows as well as tonight's venue and I expect that they will show up soon. That's dedication - driving 60 miles!
Another "dude" shows up tonight, never sung with us before, sings Tool and another song when i wasn't in the room - great, great singer, and he raved about the sound (it is SOOOO clear and easy to sing with) and said he'd be back. Cool dude, soon you soon.
Our show has become the place for Monday night birthdays ... two weeks in a row now a fairly large group of people celebrating a birthday. They're always pleasantly surprised when there is karaoke going on.
Wow, how positive can I get when I worked a full day and helped hubby at his show, it's 2:11 a.m., and I have to get up in 5 hours to start all over again.

I really wish the thread had not been moved. Many of you have been here forever and I realize you are tired of seeing piracy threads but....
~~I think a KJ only forum should remain so. I not a KJ but hubby is a fill in right now but I am the one with the account here. Right now, he works long hours and it would be a mute for him to join at this point. Next year, my husband will be in a better work position with his day job to start up his own KJ business. We are currently building our library and equipment, bit by bit, to do this.
We did not know there was a piracy issue until I joined this forum. There were places online that I thought were places to purchase legals downloads but after reading about the piracy issue and using the search function here, I found that was not true. By moving the Sound Choice case to a private forum, you have now blocked access to that information for those of us interested in getting in the business.
I am a newbie and it did not scare me off but lead us to investigate further some of the problems going on.

I found these threads interesting as well. I never knew / thought of this issue before in the regards of affecting your businesses. I'm slowly buying discs, so maybe one day I'd make the move to a KJ and be eligable to join that forum.

I don't like the idea of those threads being moved either, but it's not that big of a deal to me.

Wouldn't it be better to start a Legal Issues only forum and move everything there?
That way if you weren't interested in any of the talk you could just skip that board. Putting it in the KJ's only forum will only make everyone join and nothing will change or be accomplished. It could be made a private board so that if someone messed up or caused trouble they could be booted and locked out.

I whole heartedly agree that the TOPIC of illegal karaoke PIRATES AND HARDRIVES has been beaten to death around here. BUT besides KJ's everyone needs to understand the discussions and eventually the LAW covering this topic.
Singers who download illegal mp3+gs or make multiple copies or compilation copies of their purchased karaake music also might be "breaking the law"
I'm one for keeping the KJ forum PRIVATE for current KJ's only to discuss CURRENT KJ topics and brainstorming ideas .
But that's just me !

I liked the KJ forum for specific questions when I wanted ONLY a KJ's point of view.
(The business side of karaoke. ) - You know a place where KJ's can discuss and complain about the evil that is KARAOKE

I don't know how many of you on this forum have read the FORUM RULES, but this site is supposed to be fun and inviting. It's stressed throughout the rules!!!
Constant talk about IOs (illegitimate operators) and the constant degradation of posts with insinuations that someone is an IO because they pose a view contradictory to another's ... is not fun or inviting. It's a turn off and if you don't like the rules set forth by the operators go somewhere else and whine.
Seriously. Either do something to better your situation, or find a new profession. I really fear for our country and the increasing belief that government should control every aspect of our lives. While the organization that has recently hijacked this forum isn't a government affiliate, they act in the same manner as one would.
It's call fear mongering, people. It's not fun or inviting.
The laws aren't clear, that's been made abundantly clear with all the back and forth on this forum. I'll give you an example of a clear law ... speed limit is posted at 60mph. You go over that, and you're breaking the law. Media is shifting to digital, no one can even get on the same page on whether that's acceptable. So why do some of you find such entertainment in holding hands and skipping around a bush that isn't even there?
Take responsibility for your own, if these politickers have some tools you can use, use 'em and share your experiences. If you want them to tell you when, how, why, where, etc. join their ranks. They're looking for narcs, you want to be a part of that, get on board, and roll the dice - they've got no liability if you get shanked. Lest you forget, these POOP pushers believe 90% of us KJs are IOs. Have you not noticed the arrogance in, one in particular's, posts? This might be a poor analogy, but what's happened to this forum is the same as going to a dating site forum and having a couple of people from an anti-rape advocacy group coming in, dropping a few rapes cases, constantly pushing you to join their cause because they believe 90% of the people on the forum are rapists.
Until something comes of the SC cases, nothing is going to change. When it does - POST AN UPDATE!!!!!
I've found that people in general are losing the ability to have an original thought.

No, but I know people who take interest in doing electical work on their own home or fiddling with fixing their own tv, so they'd like info on it. All I'm saying is if you take that much interest in karaoke that you'd want to read through pages of posts on legality - have at it.

In Babs' defense (not that she needs anybodies help), she is right to say that the KJ Only Forum was RARELY being used anyhow. I just checked, and before the topics were moved over there, for the WHOLE YEAR of 2009, there were only 10 threads. So, it only makes sense to the people making the decisions to USE that forum. That way, if someone WANTS to check on the progress of those posts, they can just go over there, and check on them. Kind of like checking the Archives.

Exactly.
It is doubtful that there are going to be many new topics there because everyone tends to use this forum.
Does that mean we will have to go elsewhere to get the information we used to get here?
