I was forced into a career change by the Japanese passive component manufacturers. I was an electrical engineer involved in the design of high capacitance to volume capacitors (c/v ratio), but that was 20 years ago, and now the Japenese manufacturers have their hands full with the other Asian competitors.

I now run a Corvette collision and restoration shop. It sounds great, but a damaged corvette has a very unhappy owner attached to it!!!!!! And restoring an old rusty chasis on any old car is very time consuming and costly. People don't have the money they did a few years ago.

For me, my (2) nights a week on Wednesday and Sunday, are very therapeutic and a whole lot of fun. The place I work at is a very charming and friendly place. We attract very few under 30, singers and no nasty drunks. It has (2) other hosts in there on Monday and Saturday, and I can see that I may soon be doing (4) nights a week.

Mrmarog

P.S. No, I cannot do the stunt on the street pole anymore.

Well, I guess I'm the DUMMY of the bunch. Was a renovation carpenter (as seen on) This Old House, fixing up OLD houses in New Orleans. That environment, (along with cigarettes) took it's toll on my lungs, and had to give it up. Went into security management, now retired. Now, host karaoke, and portrait artist. Art was ALWAYS in my life, but now I get to enjoy it. Next will be a portrait of my NEW grandson.

Currently, I'm an industrial electrician.

I was in restaurant management for over 20 years. Got burned out with that and did Directv installations for a few years.

At 48 years old, I guess I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. :?

After 30 years making Reynolds Wrap I had to take a disability retirement. Music related pursuits supplement my pension a bit.

I work with databases too. I manage 13 people and am a rather savvy process analyst. I just took up dancing.

Amazing how many of us host as an alter ... I also thought I was two in one.

Im a research scientist working on plant genomics.

I assembled the Sorghum genome (the 5th plant to be sequenced) and determined the order of 700,000,000 letters of DNA.

I use computers a lot.

In my previous work I developed a DNA testing technique to identify wine grapes.

I have transcribed medical dictation and independent medical examinations for 25 years. I am relatively new to the field of photography, shooting bands (husband's band as well as other bands he may play with at venues) and young people portraiture. I am building a portfolio currently.

I spent many years on stage singing and acting but am semi-retired from that. I also do graphic design and marketing for hubby's band (Dog Leg Preacher, for those who may be curious - my husband is the lead singer). One person in a band in the family is enough.

Oh, like BSS, I'm also a professional grandma to two fantastically brilliant singing grandchildren!

I'm a former newspaper editor and corporate public relations mouthpiece.
You know, one of the first employees to be laid off whenever the economy goes sour.
After the latest layoff, I decided it would be the last and went into business doing karaoke fulltime.

I am an English teacher of all things! lol I currently teach 140 thirteen to sixteen year old students. My main expertise lies in critical analysis of literature.

I have been playing in bands since I was in high school. I sing, play guitar, and have a band that plays for me consisting of several retired Nashville studio and touring musicians, they are incredible! I have one song that I recorded that I get a small amount of airplay on local radio stations. It is not much, but it satisfies me. I get to do karaoke at one of my friends shows every once in a while and I always have a great time. I might also add, I have a ton of respect for all of you here. It is great to be a part of a group of people who share a love for music.--Mike

Well I'm really kind of a jack of all trades...on the side...with contruction, plumbing, heating, electric...I've done most of everything residential. I was also millwright for a few years. My career is Mechanical Designer, yeah Engineer without a shiny piece of paper. So I too, sit behind a desk all day and draw parts of machinery. DJ/KJ life on the side is a good outlet for me to change it up. It's another reason I "stand" all gig....tired of sitting all day!
