I am still on my quest of putting together a $1000 - $1500 karaoke setup for home, and I am researching speakers. I visited a Guitar Center and saw the JBL EON 10" self-powered speakers ($599 each) and they sounded pretty nice.
Anyone have any thoughts? Are these overkill for home?

Nothing is overkill if you like the sound. Hell I have 2 Peavey SP4 (dual 15" cabs) in my bonus room with 1000 watt amp pushing them.
The EON 10's are a nice little speaker, not real great on bass so if that would be an issue, i'd step up to the 15" model. But again, you heard them & like the sound, that all that matters.

In a family room they they will surprise you as far as bass. I would look on Ebay for a lesser price.

I just bought 2 of the JBL Eon G2 10", (brand new) in a box with cords, stands, and carry cases for $900.00 (it was their last set). So, I would DEFINATELY look around for a better deal. The 10" Eon G2"s are now a DISCONTINUED model, so search around for a place trying to sell the last of their stock. Good Luck. Oh, by the way, I LIKE THEM!!!

I think he's referring to the new 510 model.

You're probably right Lonman, because that is what they are selling for $599.00 each. I haven't listened to them, but for the deal I got on the g2's, I couldn't pass it up.
