I'm looking to build a good base of Karaoke songs to start a show in my area. I've been specifically looking at picking up the Chartbusters Essential Packs 1-9 and then adding in some more newer songs. First, What are your thought on these sets? Should I be looking at something else?

Second, these sets come as CDGs or as SCDGs. I know I'd have to convert them to use the SCDG format, but I can get them for less. I'm not familiar with how well these convert, so I'm wondering what any of you would do. Are ther pros to go with the CDG's vene though they cost more? Please help me out.

I bought the Essential 1-6 on super cdg's. I got the program "CDGFix" to convert them to individual mp3+g files for use on the computer. I have also bought some other Super CDG sets, just because they were cheap. Some of Chartbuster's stuff is okay, some is not so great, if you're comparing it to Sound Choice. The newer stuff from Chartbuster seems a lot better than their earlier products.

I have the Pioneer CDG set which I thankfully have preserved on computer and NEO+G disk in safe storage, since I cannot replace the disks and some of them have already been damaged from being moved. I also am getting a Foundation 1 set (slightly used) that will be ripped, put in jewel cases and stored away, never to be handled again unless something happens to my computer - in which case they will be safe!

If you buy on CDG there is a little better sound quality The Super CDGs are of course a compressed format, which when uncompressed will result in mp3 audio files at 128kbps and the graphics file. There can be some degradation that may be noticeable in some songs.

I bought Chartbuster 1-6 on SCDG and quite a few other SCDG's and convert them with Karaoke File Converter from KJAMP. It's a $39 program and it works good. It is much faster to convert an SCDG using this program than ripping a CD+G with CDGRIP from Compuhost. The savings is huge buying SCDG's compared to CD+G's and makes up for the program cost in one disc. The time savings is also huge. It takes about 20 minutes to rip a CD+G, while it takes only about 5 minutes to convert a 1000 song SCDG.

Can anyone confirm if the Super CDG from Chartbuster are infact fully licensed, by them. On amazon it kind of felt like a third party is selling them as a compressed version. Please let me know.

I have the SCDG volume 1-6 and on the package it has all the Chartbuster logos.

The only thing I didn't like was it I was only able to rip it to 128 but other than that it's OK.

StevieD,

Forgive me, 'Fully Licensed'
Meaning they maybe... Partially Licensed?
What do they do?... Put it on Layaway... and get the 'Full License' later?

Either they are licensed or not. Either they are Legit or a Pirate.
Never head of a 'Partial License'!

Sorry Just Kidding,
