Oh well, now I have a pretty good idea of why some of you folks don't like doing weddings. A whole bunch of those songs you're burnt out on get requested over and over again!
At least, most people have a clue that "Picture" isn't the most appropriate song for a wedding.

And while it has been suggested that if a song is "well" done it cannot be "over" done, yes it can! It's similar to when you want your steak done "medium" and it comes out "well" done, it's no longer "well", because it's NOT "medium"!
IMHO the following is a sample of some of the songs that I'd rather never hear again: Most Broadway show numbers, with some exceptions. Most Frank Sinatra songs, particularly My Way and New York, New York Most Elvis songs, particularly Viva Las Vegas and Are You Lonesome Tonight Most Neil Diamond, but I do enjoy Brother Love Most Hank Williams, Sr., particularly Your Cheatin Heart
Rappers Delight Picture Sugar Shack
I forgot about - "My Way". When I first heard this song done well, I thought wow. Now I go in numb mode and believe me we have some fabulous "My Way" singers. I've heard it so many times though I think I could sing it backwards.

Okay if you don't do Turn the Page - I won't do the Rose.
You can sing as many ballads as you want.

Another 5-minute song.
We are fortunate -- we get about as little Frank Sinatra as is possible. I actually don't mind it that much -- except for that song.

Excellent idea.
You're right. One place I go, alot of the time they'll put in Brooks and Dunn filler music, and if I don't sing before hand and it gets played, I won't sing it then.

I do like the idea of a KJ swap. Even locally, it would keep things fresh but only if you could find similar venues/equipment/songs.

KJ Swap
I would be eaten alive at a place that normally takes bribes. Oh man and what if they didn't like monkeys.

Lon that's so funny.
I jinxed myself also. When I read this thread by Karaoke Koyote I thought to myself "Wanted Dead or Alive" doesn't get done much at my bar. Last night I heard it twice.

Heard Build Me Up Buttercup (another I don't normally hear) too last night after My Way - maybe the guy really read this thread .
Did have a couple I haven't heard before get doen which was nice, but we were surprisingly dead last night, only had about 6 singers & 8 in the entire bar after 10:30 or so. Mon & Wed are my problem nights lately for some reason.

Yeah Even though things have picked up here I'm still getting those random dead nights. I'm never quite sure when they'll hit though.

I had a dead night tonight - recently Thurs have been busier than Fridays. I have a feeling people are "saving up" for Friday this week...next week should be interesting. I have moved my Fri to Saturday for Halloween; may be busy both nights with one night in between. That is when (Friday), I believe, I'm supposed to join the Portlanders at Lonman's show? Should be a blast. Hope I can convince someone to drive down with me.

I was out sining the other night and went to a new place where nobody new me. I got up and sang ROSES by Outkast... not an over done song in my book. After that some girls hanging out and singing paid my to sing Devil Went Down To Georgia. Ahhh take me back to the Pioneer laser disc days.... Some things just never get old.
