It's funny how it was determined that they were "looking for publicity", and now they're getting more than they would have if it had been a legit accident.

Well, considering the 6 year old said to the father, "I thought we were doing this for a show" in public, it's pretty obvious how they got publicity they didn't wish for. Yet to alarm the public into believing a 6 year old is left in a helium filled balloon en route to nowhere, and the device can not be controlled ? Not a good thing. It never occured to the parents this means the deployment of emergency rescue air patrols which is quite costly too ?

I have no problem with it as long as the parents are forced to pay all costs relating to that so called emergency. It should add up to many thousands dollars, don't throw that one on the taxpayer too.

I heard a few things that make me think they're not good parents in general... but yah, using a 6 year old to gain attention, in that manner, is pretty stupid. He should definately be made to work off the costs of the equipment and people used in the search... garnishment, his tax return seized, community service... might teach his sons a (real) life lesson about scheming people and what it can cost ya.

(wonder what i can do to get my name plastered all over tv like that?)

The mother and father met in acting class and they've appeared on that Wife Swap reality show. They really wanted to get a show of their own from all this attention. Well, make a show showing the "fun and excitement" of them doing 1000 hours of community service but don't pay them a cent. That might make everybody happy! ha,ha
