I'm not a native Texan (or American for that matter), 5½ years in California and now 2½ years in Austin and I'm just starting to know the difference between 'Country' and 'Texas Country'!

I get requests to get more 'Texas Country' but don't always get much luck finding stuff (maybe the artists are just too local). Artists like Cory Morrow, Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler (got some from Chartbuster), Stoney Larue.

I forget some of the others asked for but maybe some of you know where to get these artists if at all.

If it helps you Seattle types to visualize Austin it's been raining all day today!

Jonn

I don't know enough about Texas music...but I guess if you've got rain there we can commiserate.

When I think Texas, I think George Strait, Little Texas, Tanya Tucker, Asleep at the Wheel, Waylon, Roy Orbison...it sounds like there needs to be a karaoke label for acts that are on the ascent, rising stars.

There are plenty of Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Derailers, Charlie Robison out there, and Willie is Texas Country. Be aware of Alt Country too along with Texas Country. Alt Country would be your Shooter Jennings, Hank Williams III, Trailer Choir, etc. If you have XM/sirius radio there's a station called Outlaw that plays these bands.
And there's KVET or KASE on the local radio stations to get the idea of bands.

Montgomery Gentry's Long Line of Losers, and Sammy Kershaw's Beer Bait and Ammo are in fact Kevin Fowlers songs.
