Ok so in the last two weeks we picked up three new shows. Two old shows already had lighting but I want to add to the others?
Fellow KJ's what do you use/suggest for heavy mobile use? Keep in mind this is six nights a week across five different venues. I read some ideas from other threads but Id also like to avloid having to show up 2 hours before hand just to set up. Two venues are small bars with not much room, third is a large sports bar where I have some area to play with. None of the locations will be feasable to have any lighting in front of singer. All from sides or behind.
Thoughts?

My suggestion for ruggedness and ease of setup will always be the par can. You can mount the cans on a tree and leave them on their for transport, just taking the cross bar (with the lights mounted to it) and moving that. Any other form of intelligent or DJ lights need to be treated with a great deal more care and therefore are usually removed from any lighting stands are stored in their own cases for transport. That can be time consuming.
If you go with the par cans, you can probably mount the dimmer or controller pack (depending on what you use) to the cross bar as well and never have to take that off either. Then setup becomes: 1. Setup the tripod stand; 2. Put the crossbar with the lights and dimmer mounted to it on the stand; 3. Raise the bar to the proper height; 4. Plug in the dimmer and aim the lights.

Agree with the par cans & stand. I used to be able to have them set up in about 5 minutes.

I thought about those, and I actually have one set on the "T" (garage sale) but never used them for because it just seemed like it would be too simple, borderline giving the appearance of not wanting to invest in something more interactive (not necessarily the intelligent lighting though)
Par cans it is. Do you normally set yours on some chase patterns or do you more utilize dimmer/colors for mood effect?
Looks like Im doing some shopping later, thanks for the feedback.

Most of the time I have my Par Cans on a sound activated chase, minus two that I keep white and focused on the singer area as a sort of poor man's spotlight which stay on all the time.
