Christmas falls on a Friday this year. I was just wondering how many Friday night hosts have agreed to work Christmas Night and if they done it before do people really come out to do Karaoke?

I don't presently have a Friday gig, but I know from over the years that Christmas night is one of the BIGGEST nights in the bar business! People have had their fill of family and football and are ready to get out and do some drinking!

Ditto for Thanksgiving night.

Almost everything here closes on Christmas Eve at about 7 p.m. and doesn't reopen until the day after Christmas. So for me, and my friday shows, its a day off for me. I actually appreciate the time with my family, as do most people.

It will fall on our friend's night and not ours so it will depend on if they want to do it or not. We can if they don't but maybe live music will be brought in. It is a tradition for the bar to be open and serve free Christmas dinner to any that want to come.

In years past when CHristmas fell on a Monday, our regular gig night, we excused ourselves from family dinner and went to work. Bartender told us it is one of his biggest nights of the year. (Yah, people DO get their fill of family and want to kick it up a little.)

This year my Thur gig will close early but I'll do the day after - probably call it Black Friday Karaoke and work on offering specials for shoppers. As far as Thur/Fri (Christmas Eve and Christmas) I may offer to switch the 24th to the 23rd and sell the show as a carolling event. Will have to speak to venue about this. Days off are rare for me so I'll enjoy having all that time off. Doesn't happen often.

We never close. Christmas is usually a big night. Christmas Eve is actually pretty surprising as well. They stayed open one year about 5 years ago & the place was packed with people that didn't have kids or really celebrate Christmas. So they've stayed open ever since. I have 1 host that is pretty much already set for both X-Mas Eve & X-Mas night.

Clubs are closed by law here, as with most businesses

Friday is normally our busiest night. I will not be working on Xmas. The owner could get a band instead, but probably won't. In my venue my experience is that holidays like Thanksgiving, Xmas eve, Xmas, and Easter are always dead nights. I will be with family.

Thanks for everyone's replies! I haven't made up my mind about Christmas yet but my venue is open that night - Guess I will have to make a decision soon!
