I am still working on our library and need CDG recommendations for hard rock/metal stuff. I realize it varies from song to song and company to company but wondering if anyone here can recommend a disc manufacturer that is somewhat consistant.

I am not looking for a particular artist just a span from classic rock to present day.

Thanks! ~Vicki

When it comes to "hard-rock", whether it be classic or newer stuff (up to about 2 years ago that is), my opinion there is none better than the sound choice headbangers discs. Most of the songs are "on the money" when it comes to the music. However, Sound Choice has dropped the ball the last couple of years when it comes to new stuff. They just haven't done anything really worth while. For the newer metal stuff either Sunfly Most Wanted series or the Pop Hits Monthly. Sunfly's newer stuff is pretty good, but they mix up the genres on all their discs, so you will get only a song here and there of metal.

I have a series of karaoke DVDs that I ordered from Finland -- Pantera and Iron Maiden DVDs that are fantastic. KISS is also available from them but I didn't get it as I don't have a call for KISS songs. Metal singers LOVE these. There are 4-5 others that are combinations of bands like Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Children of Bodom, (SP?) HIMM, etc. These are very, very high quality DVDs. Simple to play - just need a DVD player and a switching box if you're not set up to play externally. I haven't tried ripping these to MTU hoster. If you want the link to the site I can send it - otherwise I think you can just google Finnish heavy metal and you'll find it pretty quickly. I highly recommend these if you have a base of metal singers.

Depends on what you classify heavy metal & hard rock? These days seem quite a bit different then I grew up in the 80's with all the hair band metal.
I get a ton of Pantera, Seether, Shinedown, Nickelback, Evanescence, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne to start with.
