when I say I agree, I was told by the distributer that it would only be good in small venues and as I would only require a sub in a larger situation it seemed to be a waste of time

Wow that's double the price in Canada after converting our respective currency. The tax is about even. Talk about shipping and handling. LL.

Well, I thought I had narrowed my search down to two and then Vicki throws the NX55P into the pot.
Now I have these to consider...
JBL EON 515 @ CAD$1039.95
QSC K12 @ CAD$957.60
NX55P @ CAD$899.00
Is there an easy way to decide which way to go? Oh, by the way, the QSC has a 6 (yes SIX) year warranty!

Murrlyn with the OSC you may need it . I've heard the EONs and of course the NX, there is no contest, it's the NX. I have not heard the QSC so I couldn't say for sure soundwise (maybe Liquiddye has heard both). As for toughness, all I know is that Harryoke in Fla rolled his van, his NXs went flying out and one landed in the swamp. He let them dry out for I believe a week and after, must be 2 years now, they're still going strong.

The QSC are rated 1000W, but I see on the Sweetwater site, that it is 500W + 500W. It's their light weight that has the appeal, although the Yorkvilles are still only the same weight as the EON 15 G2s I have in N.Z.
I only got a price from one of the places in Calgary referred to in the Yorkville dealers list, which is $899. Vicki's price of NZD$1530 would convert to CAD$1183,
so if you can get the NX55Ps for half that, I'd be really interested to know your source!

If you're willing to pay $1039.95... I would highly recommend the QSC HPR122i and it's the better sounding speaker amongst the list you've given

Yes, I had a look at the specs on that speaker... but at 100lbs it's more than twice the weight of any of the other speakers I have listed. Not sure if that's a speaker I want for a portable unit.

The HPR122i is just 8 lbs. over the NX55P

Sorry, I was looking at the specs for the HPR152i which is 100lbs. Yes, the 12" HPR122i is 40lbs less @ 60lbs. The specs for the NX55P show a weight of 41.9lbs.
