OUTSTANDING post Koyote! Way to break it down. Let's hope she can stay sweet and innocent for a few more years and keep that creativity flowing. All of her songs i've heard are well received by our karaoke audience.

I think my co-host uses our chartbusters tracks for "Our Song" and "Love Story", and 2 others, but am wondering if there are BETTER versions/manus out there??

I love Coutry Music, but I know plenty of people don't. It boils down to personal taste and personal preference as far as Taylor Swift goes. Apparently there a re lots of people that do like her music. Rascal Flatts is extremely popular and they have sold millions of CDs, won lots of awards and I can't stand them-personal taste and personal preference-that's what makes the world go 'round. Look how popular the Jonas Brothers are. I never listen to their music.

Lol, thanks. 9 years of music instruction and theatre arts comes in handy every now and again.

Seriously man, if I ever make it out your way I'd definitely swing by. However, I think Babs and I would have to travel separately, I doubt my wife would be real happy otherwise ;)

Look the audience in the eye? *shiver*... no can do. ....

Which version did you get out of curiosity, I have the Sound Choice version which states on the disc no words music only. I know there is a Disney version available & some overseas versions as well that most likely have the words.

Let me recommend the SBI version. It's quite good, and available for instant download.

or you could create your own CDG file to go along with the Sound Choice music that you already have.

Sound Choice as well.

I wouldn't ever bother reading about a cdg to find out if it has on screen lyrics.... it's karaoke, I kind of assume that they do when I get them.

(would have assumed, but guess I wont from here on out) :|

The one I listened to online sounds ok, and it has lyrics. But I'm not going to worry too much about it, the song was suggested to me by a friend at karaoke, I listened and liked it, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a song I'd sing much anyhow.

LOL, karaoke just means empty orchestra - music minus singing which you provide, doesn't necessarily mean words on the screen - although yes one can assume 99% of the time with a cdg that the words will be there. I remember Pocket Songs was famous for this, selling cdg's that they couldn't get the license for the words on screen so they just provided the music. Probably the same for Sound Choice - most likely requested enough, so they just recreated the music as this is a lot easier to get licensing for. I am not going to create lyrics as this wouldn't be legal for me to do & use in my shows, but will get probably the SBI version that was suggested as people have asked for it.

Do you recall (I'm sure you do) back in the days of karaoke tapes and printed lyric sheets, getting some that had no "printed lyrics"? I think it may have been a Pam Tillis tape I got, or maybe a Shania Twain... hmm, I'd have to dig back through my old lyric album (yeah, dang, I still have them, but they're a good ol' piece of Americana, Lol) ... but all it says is the name of the song, in the style of _ _, then says "lyrics not permitted by original artist". It didn't happen on a lot of them, but some were that way.

Singer song-writer's always get a pass on their singing... if they happen to be good singers that's just gravy.

Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed and Bruce Springsteen would all be hard pressed to win a local karaoke contest if nobody knew who they were and they had to perform other people's material.

Considering how big a part karaoke has played in Taylor Swift's development into a major star, I'm all for the girl!

Excerpt from Swift's bio at Wikipedia...

"...At ten, Swift began writing songs and singing at karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs around her hometown. During one summer, Swift devoted herself to writing a 350 page (unpublished) novel.[12]

She was a member of Kirk Cremer's SNL-inspired kid's sketch comedy group, TheatreKids Live!, where she was a natural comedic talent. After seeing her karaoke performance at one of the cast parties, it was Cremer's mother who first suggested that Swift seemed more of a natural to pursue a career in country music, rather than theatrical performing.

Cremer soon leased space at a local mall and began to showcase his young protégée in weeknight performances of country songs with karaoke backing tracks. Emboldened by her performances and growing audiences, she began to perform in other local open mike and karaoke nights..."
