In our town, the night before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year. What are your experiences with karaoke and crowd size on the actual night of Thanksgiving in the past?

Crowd size may be down a bit, but crowd energy tends to be a lot higher on Thanksgiving itself. Last couple years it has been about a 2/3 size crowd that drank enough for a crowd double it's size.

The night BEFORE thanksgiving tends to be one of the busiest of the year as a weeknight.

The night before Thanksgiving is almost as crazy as New Years Eve in a lot of bars. Nobody has to work the next day and people just go nuts. People are out giving Thanks for their good fortune in life and they tend to go over board with their partying knowing that the next day will be a day of relaxation and Football watching and feasting. Longer rotations and more first timers that want to get involved with the fun of karaoke.

Thanksgiving night has always proven to be in the top 10 busiest nights of the year for us. Everyone usually eats dinner between as early as 2 & as late as 6 usually. After dinner is settled, family time done, people want to drink & party!

When I was doing bar shows, the night before Thanksgiving packed the place.

Good grief, what gives?....

Thanksgiving eve I'm always at home baking pies and cakes and getting a turkey ready to pop in the oven about 4 am.

Nah we buy our pies at Costco, only cook a 10 pound turkey & it takes about 3 hours max in the turkey bags (work great BTW) & can still sleep in on T-Day! All the side dishes actually take more prep. My wife makes a killer stuffing (not in the bird).

Same for me, the night before Thanksgiving is always a busy night. It's like an extra friday for people. They don't have to work the next day, don't have to get up early, so they come out and party.

Where I live, most everything is family oriented, so bars won't be busy at all. In fact most will close early. Same thing for Christmas too

I'll need a drink after all day with my entire family. LOL Don't get me wrong, I love em to death but I can only handle the entire crew for a short time.

Oh, the thread topic, YES, I'll be very busy Thanksgiving night !

I'll ditto what everyone said about the night before Thanksgiving being a crazy busy night, especially in the 716. A lot of people are back from college or just home for the holiday. The busier it is, the more $$ for me!!

I normally start Wednesday nights at 10pm and go til 3am. On Thanksgiving Eve, I will try to set up at 8pm and still go until 3am.
I figure that the people here from out of town will allready be out, and ready to do something.

I'm looking forward to it, I've set up a facebook event for it too.

Night before Thanksgiving has been a HUGE night at my venue. I would imagine if we had an older crowd they would be home cooking and socializing. For the most part, these are college-age kids who want to get away from "Aunt Tillie" and "Uncle Waldo" and all the adults who are in the kitchen.

Last year we had a capacity crowd, this year I again hope to have my tip jar overfloweth!

Dan, these college kids may want to get away from "Uncle Waldo", or, Aunt Tillie", or "Daddy Rosario", but you can bet they WON'T be leaving until they FILL their bellies with ALL the good stuff that we "slave over the hot stove fixing", OH THE HUMANITY!!!! Yeah, I'll be one of the ones in the kitchen on Thanksgiving Eve. Don't know about Thanksgiving night. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll probably stay out singing on Weds, but it's still a Black Friday Factor if I want to sleep early to get some shopping deals on the Thurs. Or should I push the envelope and stay at a venue till closing time, and head to the stores afterwards.

Ok, got some good stuff.

Just to clarify, I am not interested in the Wednesday night thing. Its Thanksgiving night I want to know about. I've never really gone out that night that I can remember. But I am working that night and I want a good crowd. Sounds like some places is busier than others. Small town vs large town? Mine is medium, 24,000.

Well we aren't a large city by comparison of some that hold a couple million, but are at about 200K population.
Thanksgiving night itself is always a busy night for us.

I'm in a Chicago suburb. Big population - small bar
