Many like Compuhost, many like Sax & Dotty (I do) but there are more choices.
Look around and you will find many software topics..

One that I recently found is JustKaraoke by Tyranosoft. Very simple to use, easy to set up, cheap, and has some pretty good features. Not got all the bells and whistles, but seems to do the trick just fine.

As already stated, there are a number of software options available. If you're on a tight budget, one of the simple Winamp frontends may suffice (Sax and Dotty, KJAmp etc.). However keep in mind that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
If you're really serious about the business, and understand the concept of IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY, then you may wish to look at some of the more advanced software products like Compuhost (I Use and LOVE!), MTU Hoster etc. The software you choose is every bit as important as the quality of your sound system, bells and whistles DO count!
Good luck,
tbreen

I agree, to a certain point. If the software you use isn't as "professional" as you would like to appear to be, then it's probably not a good choice. If it's a "look" that you are after, then the bells and whistles are quite a bit benefit. If it's just funtionality that is important, then one of the others might be just fine too. It's like buying a car that is to represent your "business". Do you want a car that portrays the ora of success? Then you need to have a car with all the nice trim, wheels, accessories. But if the statement of "success" means being more user oriented, then by all means, get a car with only the features you will need and use. Same goes for software and sound equipment. Don't sell you and your buisines short.

Hi
I second the Justkaraoke program:
http://www.tricerasoft.com/karaoke_soft ... raoke.html
They have recently added a filler to play music between singers which is very good.
Its my son who uses the progs and he has also tried sax and dottys but prefers the justakaroke program as its self contained and does not depend on another prog ( winamp) like sax and dottys.
Most progs are available as try before you buy downloads so try as many as possible before spending your cash.
Good luck

I agree with Paulmo on trying out as many softwares as you can before settling on the one that's right for you. JustKaraoke, by the way, has most of the bells and whistles that the more expensive softwares have:
* the ability to play zipped or unzipped files
* Announce singer
* autoplay
* Singer History
* kamakazi Karaoke
I wouldn't sell any program short because of it's price as I feel JustKaraoke is a gem.

I like Swift Elite Lite by TriceraSoft. It allows company logos, slideshows, singer history, video hosting, etc. You can try it out before you buy it which is nice also.

Thanks for the help JD. fixed it.
Now back onto topic. If JustKaraoke, at the time I bought it, had a filler player, which it does now, I would have never bought Compuhost. That said I am still glad I bought Compuhost as I would have never gotten my songlist search program.

For Karaoke Hosting and the playing of filler/dance tunes I use a program called KARMA by Latshaw Systems. I've found it's eas of use , search and related functions to be all I need to run a show. ( pcdj karaoke pro is the same)
For more of a DJ show I use PCDJ RED W/Karaoke plugin
DEMO THEM ALL AND SEE FOR YOURSELF

I use Compuhost for Karaoke and Rockit Pro for DJing. I used many different programs at first on a on trial basis only and come to love both of these programs. But like everyone else said, it really is a personal preference!!

I'll second the recommendation for Karma from Latshaw Systems. It is an amazing hosting program along with their song book software and KJ File Manager. Very stable well thought out products that make hosting easy. And definitely supports filler music as well.

Make sure you have enough video ram in your laptop. You need 64 MB to run the latest version which is why I haven't upgraded to the latest release.

So which software has the most bells and whistles that will allow you to play directly from a CD+G?

MTU Hoster is one (my preference). I believe Powerkaraoke Siglos can as well.
