Hmmmm. 100,000 songs but no new songs. That sure does sound familiar.

I asked this question two weeks ago, and I haven't seen one single response to it yet.
Here's another question to go with the above.... This question is ONLY FOR those KJs who can't play discs at their shows... If someone like me were to call or e-mail you (via whatever contact information you put in your ad) to ask if you could play personal discs at your show, would you answer honestly, or lie about it (in the hopes that you get another Customer to walk in the door)?

Even tho these comments were made in 2005, you were still very adamant about not accepting the use of other people's discs at your show (even back then), yet you stated that you've done it yourself.
Gemini, you are a hypocrite with double standards!!!

Well, let's see.... I used karaoke anywhere on my phone and the KJ switch from his laptop audio out to my iphone and I sang from that. Nobody could see the lyrics but they were much enjoyed!
Fun part, I had to remote desktop into my home pc from the bar to put the song on my website so i could download it to the phone. Removed from website afterward!
KJ got nice tips for that!

Cue - If I knew you or any singer was coming to a show and wanted to play their own cdgs. I would without question hook up my player. For me it was never about not wanting to do it or not able to do it. It was about not needing to do it . Now you can argue the chicken and egg thing and that has merit. But my personal experiance is that in the past I put out the egg and very seldom got a chicken.
But I would never LIE or MISLEAD a singer who prefers to bring their own discs.

And I know of a few other KJs that would be willing to hook up a player (if they knew someone was coming for a visit) as well.
I also know of some KJs that WOULD LIE about being able to play a personal CDG (just to get you in the door).

I would answer honestly that I am very rotation conscience and go completely by the rotation that my program operates on so unless they rewrote the program to allow outside songs in the que then I am unable to accomodate their disc. If there was enough time, a day or two, I would ask what song that they wanted to sing at my show and I would see if I could get it in time legally. I would hate the thought that I could possibly miss a turn for any of my singers. I refer to anyone who wants to sing as "my singers".

I just wish everybody in town but me would quit playing customer's discs. I'd have it made.
Usually when I go out to sing I don't bring any discs with me, unless I'm dying to sing an obscure song that most people don't have,. I just look for songs I know pretty well and wing it with whatever version the host happens to have. Sometimes I stumble across a better version than what I already have. Sometimes people have songs that I've longed to try and if I'm feeling sufficiently reinforced with liquid courage I'll get up and wing it.
I have a decent voice, but I'm not a great singer so I'm usually looking for a crowd pleaser that I think will give the place a kick in the pants and get me a nice little round of applause.

Hey DannyG, couldn't you just drop in a dummy song on the computer for the rotation purpose, and then switch to the cd player when that person's turn is up?

That's how I do it, just type in their name into rotation so it shows on-screen, but just put in any old song. I switch to the cd+g player, and afterwards just switch back and go to "next singer". Slick

My program does not play discs and I have been warned about running other programs alongside the hosting program I use. But if I were to switch programs, I'd switch to Siglos because it will play discs and will put the disc song into the que. Thinking about it but the only two things that keeps me from going that route is that I hate it's interface's look (very haphazard) and I prefer the filler player on the one I use. Maybe I will go with the home version of siglos although there is no keychanger on it and I don't have a hardware keychanger in my system.

Danny, the concern you originally expressed had to do with maintaining your computerized rotation. Lehidude gave you a workable solution around that obstacle! Now, if the most basic obstacle is your inability to play a CDG on your computer, then you have the option of having a CDG disc player, along with an A/B switch and a composite cable available for playing CDG's. If you do not have the hardware or don't want to carry the hardware, then download and try Karafun. It is freeware that plays CDG's. Try it along with your current software to test whether they can be run simultaneously. Also you need to first determine that your CD-rom drive reads CDG discs. If everything works playing the CDG's on the computer, it is likely that you can purchase the appropriate software for less than the cost of above mentioned hardware and play people's discs at your show on your computer! And if the software works you don't have to lug any extra hardware with you. So, you'll accomplish your goal for little money and with less to carry, seeing that your car is already packed full of hardware! DannyG2006 How many video monitors? Karafun does not work with every drive out there. But you get what you pay for.
Siglos however works with more drives including my drive. Tested both out and guess what siglos was clean while the same disc same song came out with garbled lyrics. If I were to go with an outside software player then I would go with siglos karaoke recorder/player.
