At the weekly bar gig I use a 13" tv for singer monitor, a 60" lcd behind (and for the most part) above the singer and 2 - 25" wall mount tvs one of which is angled toward the stage so the singer can use that as well.

RCA is actually worse than coax when it comes to splitting. Ideally you really should have a distribution center. Radio Shack sells a really nice one, of course the price reflects that too. I think that would seriously help in your case.

Thanks for the input

Actually I have 2 Radio Shack 4-ways (splitters) that they no longer make. I use to use it all the time. I'll hook one up and see if that solves the "problem".

Me, personally, I like to have two. One small one for the singer on stage, and one large one facing the audience.

My venue has a very large (gotta be 60" or so) flat screen TV facing the audience. There are many reasons I like the audience monitor:

1) As an audience member, I enjoy following along with the lyrics of a song and being able to see the name of the song displayed at the beginning, especially if it's a song I'm somewhat familiar with. Sometimes I enjoy just singing along to myself

2) It helps shy singers become more familiar with what karaoke is about. The first time I was exposed to karaoke, they didn't have an audience monitor. I was just told "the lyrics are displayed on the screen." Did that mean one verse at a time, one line, or the whole song just scrolling along? By seeing that the lyrics are big and color-scrolling and easy to follow (for most songs), new people can get more familiar with it for when it comes to their turn.

3) Many of my shy singers prefer to take a microphone and sit at their table and sing because they're afraid of being on stage. Hey, I see nothing wrong with that.

4) I used to have a regular who was elderly and somewhat disabled. It was hard for them getting up onto the stage. The big TV served as their monitor while they sang out on the dance floor.

5) I enjoy going out into the audience when I sing. It's good to have the large monitor there in case I forget a lyric or two.

I usually just provide a 13" tv at private gigs which is all I have room in my car for. However at the gig I am going to start on the 4th, I will be hooking up to a much larger LCD TV. Gonna talk after a few weeks about making a permanent hook up to the tv so I don't have to keep hooking up the cable to the TV. The tv I am hooking up to is pointed so that both the singers and the audience can see it.

I use 2. One for the singer and one for the audience. There is a large TV above the singer facing the audience. It was actually put in the bar for the purpose of karaoke. It is large enough you can see it from the back of the bar which is nice.

I can't imagine not having a monitor for the audience. I have so many people that sing along. I think it helps engage the audience and encourages people to come together as a group.
