I'd much appreciate it. I get many many requests for this song, and I have to have it! Sound Choice 8223, not the re-release with "Seperate Ways". I'm usually on eBay and craigslist looking for items, but I thought I'd ask around here as well Thanks all!

Good luck, that disc was pulled shortly after it was released due to the Ronettes part - Be My Little Baby - blurb within & re-released with the Journey song. I haven't seen it - even used, for quite a while.

This is where those nasty pirates come in handy. Those hard drives with 100,000 songs probably have that song on them. Maybe someone will offer to sell you a "copy" of that disc.
it seems to be on a Lost Classics disc as well. Maybe you can find that one?

That is just the mp3. No Lyrics on screen.

I'm sure BruceFan could help with that!
Really, if rogerniner "has to have" that particular song and the mp3 is the only version available, then not having the lyrics displayed is not really an issue. If a KJ has exhausted all means of obtaining the track requested and is only able to obtain a version without lyrics displayed, wouldn't it be courteous of those requesting the song to learn the lyrics? Heck, for 99 cents, they could even download it themselves and have a copy to learn from!

Thanks for the info, Lonman. I was never really sure why they pulled the disc out of production, I figured maybe Eddie Money was just being a bastard
I am aware of the amazon version, but my singers would like to have the words with the song, and I am not going to put the effort forth to "create" my own. I'll just keep searching. The hunt is the fun part. Thanks again!

Funny how you aren't willling to put forth the effort to "create" your own version, yet you come here expecting everyone to put forth an effort to help you find it. Now that is classic Irony.
And to think that I was almost willing to "create" it for you.
Nevermind!

I personally thought that after ABKCO finally let Sound Choice put out their Rolling Stones & Sam Cooke songs, SC would jump at the chance to finally re-release "Take Me Home Tonight". The interesting part is that Chartbuster recently came out with the the Ronettes "Be My Baby", so you would THINK that somehow TMHT could be made again by a karaoke company...unless there's some other licensing "obstacle" happening with it.

Excuse me?
I was merely asking if anyone had any leads or ideas, since I have exhausted mine.
So sorry for asking.
And, no, I'm not willing to put forth the effort to create my own and use it my shows because I'd much rather have the legal version. With the way winds are shifting in the professional karaoke world, I'm kind of a stickler for official versions, just to be on the safe side.

It is hard to make well synced versions of the lyrics manually without a copy of the same track with the lyrics (and running at the same speed).
If you do go the route of making a version with your own lyrics to go along with the track, buy the same track with and without lyrics and time the screen lyrics with the voice version then assoicate the cdg file with the no-voice version.
Even if you know the song you probably are going to make little errors in syncing the lyrics to the track if you are doing it without the voice in the background. Pressing a key to time the words is when making a CDG file for a version without voice somehow a bit harder to keep in time than actually singing the song and keeping time, and I am not good at doing both at the same time.

The law makes little distinction between 1 pirated song and 100,000 you can get in plenty of hot water in either ccase.

I don't have that song but would like to. I looked at all the places I could think of and was only able to find audio-only versions. I had no idea it was so impossible to find!
I haven't had time to create any of my own karaoke graphics in a long time, but I'm not opposed to doing it. I am a little curious about the legalities of it, though. Does anyone know?
I've made a few tracks myself, the most notable being Blobots - "Scottsdale Bars". I haven't heard of anyone getting into legal problems over that; it seems the only people suing over karaoke are karaoke disc manufactures, not real record labels or music publishers. The labels and publishers seem content as long as the bar is paying for ASCAP/BMI/SESAC licensing.

I have an original Lost Classics CDG disc LC005 with "TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT" on it. Let the bidding begin!
My Bad! I just checked and song # 11 has been replaced by "I'VE BEEN IN LOVE BEFORE" by the Cutting Crew.
Damn! There goes another million dollars down the drain. ;c)
Apparently, I have the Priddis Lost Classic discs and not the ORIGINAL Lost Classics discs. ;c(

The legalities of making your own sync lyrics tracs synced to the song is that it is definitely a NO, unless you have approval of the artist.
However in practical terms I have serious doubts any artist would sue the indidvidual KJ who made such tracks but did not distribute them. The person who could sue the KJ for making a video backing track would be the songwriter (or the person who owns the rights to the song if the writer has died or sold their song's copyright). This means that any artist can block the manufacture of karaoke (in the US) by a company by not allowing thier songs to be used.
This makes songs like the "Take me home tonight" effectively illegal bootlegs whatever the form. They were not manufactured legally in the first place because they were made without the songwriters approval.
SC has been blocked from FURTHER manufacture and sales of the song (assuming it was never legal which appears likely). This means that you could get in trouble from the artist for using the song even if you find the rare SC disk. In the eyes of the artist (and the law) the karaoke version of the song was never legal.
So the Karaoke version of this song is probably illegal to use either from the rare SC disk or with user synced lyrics.
Enforcement is VERY unlikey though for the owners of the SC disks, and highly unlikely for custom karaoke syncs.
I figure the KJ is pretty safe as long as they do not distribute the Karaoke video portion to accompany a legally made (and liscenced) audio backing track.
SC will use such tracks as indicators however to see if your songlist includes pirated songs. If you have a lot of very hard to find songs from SC they will make the assumption that a lot of your stuff is pirated, and leave you the burden of proving otherwise.

While I didn't get Dixon Payne's permission before making the karaoke track to "Scottsdale Bars", I've talked to him since and he was thrilled about the publicity. He's still a very popular radio DJ here under the name "Craven Morehead". (one of the best air-names EVER IMO)
I kind of expect you're right about custom tracks of other songs, though, and would certainly oblige a cease-and-desist letter from a legitimate music publisher regarding a song I produced karaoke lyrics video to. If I had a CDG for the song, I'd probably take them to court just to see how a judge would rule on it, since someone else is responsible for the track's creation and I bought the CDG with the reasonable expectation of using it. I'm not pushing the issue by trying to hunt down the SC Eagles CDG though; Backstage & Superstar Karaoke work just fine for me.
Giligin's pays it's ASCAP/BMI/SESAC licensing though so I'm not too worried about it.
