Has anyone heard or used Karaoke Kurrents? I'm current with my music up to Feb 2007. Yes, I've been out of the loop as far as Karaoke goes I'm trying to get caught up as in my library goes and I had a Karaoke store refer me to Karaoke Kurrents. Anyone know about the sound quality of this product? My data base consists of Sound Choice, Top Hits & Chartbuster. Love Sound Choice, but it's a pretty penny to get caught up w/ them. Thank you for your time and input

Thanks for posting this question. I'm curious too - I haven't seen any yet, but I did find this review for them on Amazon.com. It seems they may be by the same people who do the Supercores...
Quote: By Michael Gladu "alaskaraoke" (Anchorage, Alaska) - See all my reviews These songs were produced by the same people who make the Supercore Starter sets. In fact some of the same songs on this Karaoke Kurrents set can be found on the 2008 Supercore set. I host karaoke events part time and the Supercore and Karaoke Kurrents songs are chosen often by young people and in general are high in quality. For a few years Supercore and now Karaoke Kurrents have been including Urban songs with explicit lyrics. While this may be popular with the bar crowd, I don't host bar gigs. Some of my gigs children and teens are present. I really wish Supercore and Karaoke Kurrents would produce more clean radio version hip hop and urban music in thier karaoke production. I can't use any of these songs with foul language and have to exclude them from my books. Out of the 100 songs there were 11 with explicit filthy language I had to exclude.

Funny seeing that review posted here! I wrote a response to it on amazon.com.
For the bar crowd I have the unedited (or minimally edited) lyrics on the hip-hop, pop, R&B and rock is perfect, but if you work in more conservative venues or host events where there are children present it's something you need to be aware of. The quality, in my opinion, is EXCELLENT! I have the May 2008 edition.
For the time period you're trying to make up, it probably is the best value for you. I much prefer the Karaoke Kurrents versions I have to the ones for the same songs made by Sound Choice and Chartbuster.

I bought the Karaoke Kurrents June 2009 Edition (#KK0301) 6 disc set about 5 months ago. Good song selection of the Top 100. Sound quality and swipes pretty good too.
BUT...The Hip hop songs, other than "Boom Boom Pow" by the black eyed peas ARE NOT as well done as SF, PHM, CB, or Zoom.
....can't remember what i paid but it was well worth it at the time. I found better versions of most hip hop songs with Sunfly.
Hope that helps even a little...i say it's worth it for your updates...it's pretty good.

I heard one not too long ago, equate them to Sweet Georgia Brown quality.

Oh no, the quality is MUCH better than SGB!
Yes, these seem to be done by the Supercore people and they sound pretty good! A minimum of synth; seems to be many live instruments. Swipes are excellent.
For the money, you can't beat it!

Not the disc I heard, can't remember which songs they were. Supercore used SGB tracks btw.

What a "difference", June 09 is just about a handful of different songs than the Dec 09 edition.

True Lon, some were used, but by no means exclusively. They had agreements with several different producers.
I have KK-0201-0206, as well as KK-0301 and 0302. Decent quality, but two things to watch out for:
1) KK-0303 and up are basically dupes of songs in the 02 series.
2) There are already a zillion counterfeits out on the web, some ofwhich are very poor quality reproductions ( which may well be what Lon heard). Look for proper graphics on the labels, and mfr. codes lasered onto the rim of the center hole.
