I need help with the different types of Kamikaze Karaoke. I know one type of it is...
1. You have all of the singers who are going to join, write down 2 or 3 songs from the book.
2. Put all of the songs in a hopper. Whoever is next picks a song.
3. They either sing the song or pay a dollar to get out of it.
4. At the end of two weeks, you have a karaoke contest, and the winner takes all of the money.

What are some other ways to play this game? Thanks everyone.

True kamikazee is when they don't even KNOW what they are singing. We've done it a couple different ways. When we do our contests, we will go through the books & write down slips with just the numbers - no song names. We would generally go through a letter of the alphabet - it takes a little time to get it prepared but once it's done, you can reuse the slips. Then the singer will draw & sing whatever comes up. They would be judged on how hard they try & stage presence. If it's a song that they OBVIOUSLY know, then they will need to re-draw.

The other way we do it is just run our finger up & down the discs & someone will yell stop. Then we get someone to pick a number between 1 (and whatever the highest number on the disc is) & they do the song. We do it this way when we are just having fun. You can also do it fanning through the book & have someone yell stop & drop your finger somewhere on the page while not looking.

i have a crown royal bag, that has poker chips.... one chip for each CD (which i need to add new chips), and on the other side of the chip is a # between 1 and 20.... the singer pulls the first chip.... that is the CD they do, the second chip is the track

if the song is something really really obscure or not somthing that the person could ever do, we can use the second chip for the cd and the first for track

I have never done kamikazi, yet. But I am changing my system over to PCKJ and it has a 'kamikazi' button that you click and it makes a random selection from your collection.

My best memories of kamakazi was when we were still using the big pioneer cd's and there would be about 20 of us sitting at the bar or tables. We'd put a cd in the player & graphics on the big screen. Then pass the wireless mic from singer to singer at the bar.. You would have to sing what came up More often than not a non singer would give it a go anyway You could go up on the stage but why bother... We had karaoke every night so we dreamed up many ways to enhance it.

When I do kamakaze, I pick the first song. Then I call the first singer. They have to sing the song I pick.

After the first singer goes, then s/he picks the next song. Then I call the next singer, and s/he has to sing whatever the first singer picked. I also rearrange the rotation, so the first singer won't know who they're picking for!

The last singer has the real advantage: They know they're picking for me. And that's where the fun comes in....

But I have a question for the poster who said they put the songs in the hopper and everyone draws. If someone pulls a song they know, they have to re-draw.

Is that fair? What happened to luck of the draw? Not trying to be difficult, just asking.
