As much as DDTM's post contained information of great interest to all, it does not belong in this thread. Let's see about moving it?

Well I guess I can take the blame if anybody doesn't think DDTM's auditing post belongs here, but I just couldn't resist asking him about the auditing process since he seems to be the first one here to actually go through it. Wherever it ends up I'd like to continue the conversation about what he posted.

Seems that ANY THREAD PUT UP BY ANYONE that even has a HINT of reference to playing a custormers own disc(store bought or not) AUTOMATICALLY BECOMES ABOUT PIRACY and not about providing the CUSTOMER SERVICE that they were hoping for!!
ENOUGH ABOUT PIRACY----PUT IT IN THOSE OTHER EARLIER AND LAWSUIT AND PIRACY THREADS!!

I have Siglos and can play disks without ripping. Actually I don't have any ripping software on my laptop, so for me to get a disk from someone at a show and keep the files would be impossible.
That was the reason that I bought Siglos is so that I could play disks. Haven't had anyone come to me with one since my switch-over though. I was using disks until 2008 and the problems with aging disks cost me a long-running job.

I don't like siglos Professional's interface or filler player. That is one of the reasons I went with CompuHost. CompuHost has no way of playing a customer's disc inside of the program. I am going to purchase Siglos Recorder/Player when I get the money.

Hear, hear. When it becomes less likely that a thread will be hijacked, I'll be back more often.

Just my 2 cents. If someone wants to hijack a topic that I post<<<<<< I really don't care as longs as I get the info I was interested in getting. Taximan's update was pretty darn interesting!
Again, merry Christmas to all,, or should I make a new thread for that? !

My apologies to all, as soon as I hit "Submit" I knew this wasn't really the right thread for it. I was also in that funky drunk period between when my show is over and most things are packed up, and when I've been paid, shut the PC down & am out the door.
With that said, I understood that the OP used a program that plays singer's CDGs directly, but I don't have any way to do that (short of using the disc-changer-based backup system and moving cables) but ripping the track to my hard-drive. I would imagine there are others here who are now computer-based who don't have the capacity to play a CDG directly without first transferring a track to their harddrive, and wanted to show a risk involved. Also, BigJer had specifically asked to know more about SC audits.
There was a time not long ago when I had a much smaller library, no access to instant legal downloads, when I felt it was worthwhile to keep a single-tray CDG player hooked up on an A/V switch. I really don't anymore. But I do feel it is very important to make the few people who bring their discs to my show feel welcome, and I just love singer recommendations on cool discs.

I really do still hope you'll start a new thread with that information. There are things I'm curious to ask you more about. Thanks Dan and Merry Christmas.

Well I ALWAYS bring my discs that have my odd obscure songs on them with me when I go somewhere for karoake. BUT I ALWAYS CHECK THE KJ's LISTINGS to see if he has them so they can just use the ones on the puter as OPPOSED to the discs. Its when they STILL DONT HAVE MY ODD SONG that i have to ask if they can play a STORE BOUGHT DISC.
Sometimes they can sometimes they cant.
Its usually the less experienced Laptop/Hardrive KJ's that cant.
The main songs that I look for are:
THE WALKIN BLUES by ROYAL CROWN REVIEW(AMS brand),
LOWDOWN by BOZ SCAGGS(Legends Brand),
KULO by PITBULL(OKE Latin Reggaeton Brand)
POISON ARROW by ABC(SC Brand)
STEPPIN OUT by JOE JACKSON(DKK Brand)
Sometimes they have em sometimes they dont. If they do I use thiers, If not I ask if they can play mine.
