What would y'all recommend for a headworn UHF mic for hosting?

The usual suspects, Shure, Sennheiser and maybe the higher end Audio-Technica. Stay away from VocoPro and Nady and the other cheaper brands.

The Shure WH30 is a tried and proven cardioid condenser and would probably be perfect for you. Great sound quality while keeping the microphone as inconspicuous as possible. Either of the Sennheiser HSP headsets would be a good fit for you too. f you go Audio Technica, go for the 2000 series or above. The one problem I have with their wireless kits for lavs is the transmitter pack. It just feels super cheap and is not very durable if dropped or bumped.

I've got the Shure lavalier mic set. It uses a Mini-XLR, 4-pin. I wish I could find a headset mic that fit that....

I suppose I could try rigging an adapter, but I hate to jury rig when something ready made is there.

The WH30 has the same 4-pin mini connector as the Lav's. You should be able to use it.

Great! I'm buying one straightaway.

Do NOT buy any Gemini crap. My wife thought she was doing me a favor one year & this thing sounded horrible & unfortunately was beyond the stores return policy so my 7 year old daughter got a nice little toy.

I remember this one KJ telling me that he had the TOP OF THE LINE GEMINI equipment. I told him that TOP OF THE LINE & GEMINI didn't belong in the same sentence, and he got offended. LOL He no longer has that gig.

LOL! What an oxymoron!

Well I looked at the recommended Shure. Would LOVE something like that. Unfortunately funds aren't there yet. So guess I'll either have to settle for Audiotechnica or just wait until one shows up on craigslist or something. Good thing I'm a patient person.

Marty, I have a couple thoughts for you. First, you could look at Shure's PG series headsets, they would be cheaper and would still sound really good, just not as nice as the higher end models. Definitely take a look at eBay, I've bought quite a bit of my equipment that way. Another thing you might consider if it would work for you is American Musical's payment plan. If you give them a credit card to bill to, they will bill it in 3 equal monthly installments (no credit check needed). Just some thoughts for you.

Do be careful if you buy off eBay that you try to avoid anything that operates in the 700MHz band (698-802 MHz). Ask the seller before you buy. Those devices should no longer be used and in the future could potentially interfere with or experience interference from public safety or wireless broadband users.
