I started looking around for some economical ways to buy just the songs I wanted, instead of purchasing an entire CDG. I purchased a song with BuyKaraokeDownloads.com for $1.49. It appears the song is MP3 + CDG File. I am very confused as to how to make this work with my CAVS 203G (USB) player.

I saved the file to a memory key and plugged it into my CAVS, and I was able to hear the music, but could not see the words on my TV.

Do I need to burn a CDG disc instead?

Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mitch

quick look at your player and it seems it should be able to read the mp3+g from your memory stick ?

Did you check to make sure BOTH files were copied over ?
The mp3 plus the graphics file ?

Actually I did copy both files to the memory key. Very strange.

Mitch,

The CAVS 203G is not MP3+G compatible, you'll have to convert your files into a standard bin file or one of the other formats that it supports. According to the CAVS website, it will play the following: MPEG4/VCD/SCD+G/CD+G/CD/MP3/MCG/AVI/JPEG/Kodak.

If you need a converter, Power CD+G Burner will do the job nicely for about $30.

I believe you have to change the music file to a .mcg extension and the lyric file to a .ncg extension using the cavs file manager available on their website.

-could be wrong... =never done it myself....

John is correct about that.

Are you sure? I thought it was MP3 (Music) and MCG (graphics). It's been so long since I dealt with CAVs I honestly can't say for sure anymore.
