I am not familiar with Karaoke machines and equipment but my grandmother really loves to sing. So I bought her a portable machine from Best Buy and today she came over and we hooked it up. It turns out only plays CD+G or multiplex CDs to remove vocals.

This is a problem for us because the music she likes is not really available on the market as CD+G. They are very old hindi songs and religious songs. She doesn't need the words either, she memorizes them and has a book.

I checked around google and stuff, but I could not find a portable system that can cut out the vocals from regular CDs.

Anyone can help? I appreciate it.

What model machine do you have to begin with.
2nd, chances are vocal removers will not work for what you described - although it is completely dependant on how the original recording was produced. If they were recorded in mono - nothing will work.

Don't know if you have checked out the Ace Karaoke collection of Hindi songs but here is the link: http://www.acekaraoke.com/hindiaudiocd1.html

Many appear to be newer hits but there could be some classic titles among them.

The key changer plugin that comes with the AutoKDJ package (I can't remember the name of the plugin right now) has a vocal remove feature. I can't say that I've ever used it but since AutoKDJ is free, it might be worth giving it a look.

Letit rip is referring to the "PaceMaker" plugin for Winamp (also included with AutoKDJ

I do not think you would be happy with the results, it does a mediocre job at best of partially muffling the vocals, distorting the music as well.

Thanks for help and sorry, for late reply... I dont' know how to get the email notifications going on this post. I'll check regularly now on.

The model I have now is the SML-385 from The Singing Machine.

Yes some sites have a small selection of hindi that might be suitable, but not really what my grandma is looking for.

We're really looking for just hardware that can do it, so my grandma can just put her CD in and go.

Probably ain't gonna happen. Best thing to do would to order a custom CDG from a manufacture with the songs grandma wants.

Thats too bad. In that case, maybe I'll try learning how to make my own non-vocal CDs myself via software.

Thanks for your help.

You will find that there is no really liable software for accomplishing your objective.

I suggest that you might want to return the karaoke machine. Even if you find vocal eliminating software that you are happy with the end result will play on any CD player!
