I have never had any luck with any Behringer product - especially mixers. I have 2 friends that currently work at Guitar Center locally & they have always said that brand is the highest return rate for bad units over anything else they sell.

I can't speak to much about Behringer cause I've never owned it.(maybe cause I've heard so many horror stories) But I have owned other cheap brands and learned my lesson from trying to save a buck or two.

And i bet they sell two tothree times as many behringer products then anything else they sell. So i would guess their return rate is about even. Stands to reason. Common sense will tell you a dealer will sell more lower priced products then the high top self stuff. That in and of itself proves nothing.

Ive used Behringer mixers many times doing fill in gigs here and there(Tachos Mexican Restaurant, Blue Eyes Bar and Grill, The Porterhouse Restaurant and several others in Portland). They were attached to Crown amps and Yahama 15" speakers. They were easy to familiarize with, use and and produced clean sound.
Now my usage was for short runs, but I had no trouble with them and they sounded clean and accurate.
However if I were to buy I'd probly go with a Yamaha, Peavey or Mackie.
(I presently have a 200x2 Peavey XR684 mixer amp that I use with the bands exclusively for vocals and perhaps keyboards or maybe horns or blues harp)

I've used mostly Behringer mixers for the last 2 years and have yet to have any issues with them. I also use Behringer speakers and have had only one issue with them. They ended up blowing on me, but we think it was due to being left in my vehicle through some very extreme and unusual weather changes last year and having too much moisture form inside and cause corrosion. They were still under warranty and were replaced by Behringer with no problems. We've since placed several silica gel packs in my van and have not had an issue since. Then again, we haven't had those weather conditions again, either. As for the mic mentioned above, it is amazing for what you pay for it!

If you have to have reliable gear (and don't have back-ups for everything), Behringer is a big risk. All of the products of theirs that I've used have functioned perfectly well for the price, but were ultimately too unrealiable for regular professional use - with the sole exception of the amps. $20 mics are only a good deal if you don't have to replace them every few months.
Granted, you may get lucky and get one of the "good ones", but I've purchased and used numerous of their mixers, mics, crossovers, and speakers, without any luck. I've given them way too many chances to prove they can produce something decent.
If you're on that much of a budget, you're still better off buying used equipment from a better manufacturer.

The board we have has been on the go for almost 9 years at a minimum of 6 nights a week with no problems.

One of the aforementioned "lucky ones".

I have had great luck with my mixer (rx1202fx). I also have zero complaints on my U-Control Sound Card.

Myself, I have had very little complaints about Behringer stuff. It all has worked well over the last few years. I know there is better stuff out there, and I am working on upgrading little by little. But the price point is the selling factor on their equipment, so "yes" they do have a place in the market for sound equipment. I don't disagree that they have a higher return ratio, I have seen it (just not with my gear luckily), but if a person takes care of his/her gear, it will last a good amount of time. IMHO

Hmmm, mine lasted 2 days In some cases, it won't even turn on coming out of the box

I also have a number of pieces of Behringer gear, with not a lot of trouble. I have two amps, two powered mixers, a number of mics, two pair of speakers, some eqs, a compressor, a crossover, and a small mixer. Only one piece ever failed. The eqs are a bit noisy, but work.
All in all, if I had to do it over again I would buy better equipment to start with. I have a lot of Yamaha now. But the Behringer stuff hasn't been all that bad -- my sound still blows away 95% of the karaoke hosts out there. (Face it folks, when you supply Nady and Vocopro mics and "karaoke mixers", you don't set a high bar.)

Just as an update:
I received my DBX 223xl in exchange of the defective Behringer with an extra $100 of course but let me say it's worth the extra, simply day & night and that's before you connect the cables It looks and feel solid, sounds incredible!!
My advise to everyone, think twice before wanting to save money, your saving might not be a real saving after all
