I run 4 shows a week, but in my off time I go to different karaoke venues, ok my name is Lonewolf an I am addicted to karaoke . The last venue i attened i noticed he had all his mixer settings (trim, High, mids, low) turned off but would adjust up with each individual singer, hmm. I normally set my at 0 or dead center and work left to right with the knob's. I was wondering how other Kj's work their microphone settings, since you have on a few seconds to set this for the singers.

Normally - I set the mixer settings up front --NORMALLY I'll sing the 1st TEST song and then "tweak" from singer to singer were need be.

I generally sound check my mics and set the trim appropriate to the levels of my voice (I generally am louder than most singers) and then will tweak as needed for each singer. This gives mea good starting point and as I become familiar with the repeat singers over the course of the night (or regulars from week to week) I can pretty well have everything ready to go when they come up. There is definitely not a one size fits all approach in my book. EQ, Trim and Mix level need to be adjusted specific to each singer.

If what you are saying is that he starts every singer with the EQ's cut all the way down...then you saw a KJ who has no clue what he is doing.

When I set up, I set sound to my voice. After that, it's a crap shoot. If the singer is one of my regulars, I'm reset before the song starts. I not, I grab a few seconds of the new singer, and set accordingly. I've been doing this for a few decades, so I'm pretty quick.
