I am building a 1200 sqft space in my basement with a bar, ping pong & foosball tables, and KARAOKE.

Over the last 3 years, I upgraded from Vocopro/BMB to entry-level pro-audio to a pretty good system. I think I spent more money on buy-new & sell-cheap than had I buy the right GOOD ones from the beginning. So... maybe I am a*al and still not satisfied. Now I want to buy ones that I can't make another excuse about the equipment.

These are what I have and am thinking to keep:
Mackie SR1530z speakers (got great deal... downgrade to SRM450v2?)
BBE 882i Sonic Maximizer
DBX 2215 EQ
Shure SLX4/87 (2)
Shure SM58

On my radar:
A&H Zed 12FX
Lexicon MX400

Following this forum the last couple days, I find some talks about DBX 1066, 266XL, DriveRack... If I have enough to spend, what will you recommend?

... and thanks for your help.

Do yourself a favor and get the Soundcraft EFX8, it has the Lexicon vocal effects built in. It's about $400 and it will be the last mixer you will ever need to buy. That's a bit expensive for a home Karaoke system, but it sounds like you want good stuff and the price isn't the most important thing.

I'd add a sub and a driverack if you want the best of the best sound.

Maybe a QSC powered 18" It would let you pull the bass out of your tops and they would sound great.

I see nothing wrong with what you have currently, unless you have no mixer currently. The A&H would make a grat addition to the system.
Personally might upgrade the dbx 215 with a 231, otherwise you have better than probably 75% of 'pro' karaoke companies already!

I have close to what you have and are thinking of getting.I have a refinished basement that's 1800 sq feet with the pool table, ping pong table bar etc in one area and a dedicated area for my karaoke complete with dancing floor and mirror balls.

My equipment is A&h zed 12FX (Amazing mixer)
Yamaha P5000S amp
BBE 882i maximizer
dbx 266XL compressor for the mics
Yamaha Q2031B Equalizer
2 Yamaha Br-15 speakers,I get some flak for these but they sound so good to me and i have had them 6 years
A few SM58 mics
I use compuhost software,An awesome piece of software

With that i can pretty much blow out the basement!I don't think you would be disappointed with the A&H,i really like that it has USB,the controls are pretty big and easy to read.

Thanks for your help, I am down to between A&H Zed12FX or Souncraft FX8. I'll go through the manuals, but I like the Zed looks. What about DBX 1066, 166XL, DriveRack (what model?) and Lexicon MX400?

I used to own P5000s & Yammy S112V. QSC 2450 is a better amp, IMO.

Lonman - I have DBX 2215 (not 215). Is it a better EQ than 231?

If you aren't worried about size, I'd get the Zed Mixer. Especially since you are getting an Lex MX400, you don't need the soundcraft's EFx then, which are Lexicon. And the Zed has the usb 1.1 function, which is nice. I might have been better off going smaller for my uses. I maybe should have bought the soundcraft, but I don't have an MX400. Yet. The zed does take up a shiiitload of room on my table though. But it looks good!

Lonman - I have DBX 2215 (not 215). Is it a better EQ than 231?

Actually as far as an eq, the 2215 is a better model as far as the quality line. I misread it thinking it was the 215. I prefer a good 31 band personally, so in keeping with the same series, the dbx 2231 would be a possible upgrade. However if you go with a Driverack, you really wouldn't need the eq at all as it's built into the DR. Although a Driverack PA wouldn't do much good if you are not running separate subs, look at the Driverack PX for the Mackie speakers (nice speakers, I had a couple sets at one time).
Either of those mixers would be good, the Soundcraft has a built in Lexicon effects processor. The MX400 is a nice processor as well.
For compressors (for vocals), depends on how many mics you run. 2 mics you can use the 166XL or the better 1066. If you are running 3 or 4 mics, look at the dbx 1046.
