Hi Guys & Gals
I'm buying a new laptop. I'm going for a Dell 2.1 processor, 4 gig ram with 320 hard drive. The system is Windows 7 64 bit. I currently use S&D version 2.2. I have spoken with support who says this will run on W7 as long as UAC control is switched off not unlike with Vista. The key changer didn't seem to work as well on Vista as it does on my old laptop with XP (more noticeable warbling). I am considering a change of hoster.
Question:
Are there any hosters out there with little or no side effects when the key changer is implemented?

For cheap on the money side but not features, JustKaraoke has a decent keychanger. I was never a fan of pacemaker.

Just want to add that JustKaraoke is Windows 7 compatible.

Thanks for that Danny. Justkaraoke looks to be a strong contender

I "second" JustKaraoke. Works like a charm for me too.

To run a show or home? Karafun is similar to Justkaraoke!
www.karafun.com
Avoid MTU Hoster, you'll be sick with their key changer, it has this rubber band sound effect

Karafun is no where near what JustKaraoke is. With Karafun You don't have rotation control. You don't have the ability to know who's up. No singer history. no music ambient player etc.
Do I have to go on.
The only thing Karafun is good for is playing discs.

Karma's alright if you like dark interfaces. It costs more than JustKaraoke and it has one less feature than JustKaraoke. It doesn't have a kiosk capability although combined with Tricerasoft's Super Remote Tool it might work.

I completely disagree with this. Their key changer is as good if not better than most out there.

Just a note...Karma does have different skins included (light ones also) and is pretty configurable to look and layout.

I refuse to use a key changer. They all sound like crap to me. If you can't sing a song in the key it was written in you shouldn't be singing it.

I agree but trying telling the punters that!!! The Pacemaker plugin works OK within reason on XP but doesn't work very well with Vista.
Thanks so far guys for your recommendations

just a comment about karma their site says to stay away from 64 bit i have not been able to get it to work on my new laptop but works great on 32 bit i do however like the sound quality better from karma over just karaoke there is a big price difference though. if anyone has been able to get karma to work on 64 i would sure be interested
in learning how. virtual dj might be another choice you want to try and price is very reasonable i however have not ever used the key changer

I would hope that Micro$oft would fix 64 bit windows.
But I guess it's the wave of the future..

Coming from Show Presenter to another Hosting Solution can be hard. The one that is closest to operating like Show Presenter is JustKaraoke.
The method of entering is just like Show Presenter in that you choose the song first and then enter the singer. The que(rotation) operates like Compuhost in that the singer's name is what moves and not the songs.

It's the reason I asked if it was for home, I wouldn't host a show with Karafun

"I am considering a change of hoster." Was what the OP said. From that I gathered he wanted more than a player.

By this logic, Elton John shouldn't be singing any of his own songs. If you see him in concert today, every song is in a much lower key than the original.

Many bands do this - especially older bands - but have seen it with newer bands in concert as well.
If you can't sing a song in the key it was written in, then change the key to suit your voice.
