hi my first post i know nothing about karaoke machines but i have just bought a second hand RSQ S222 and i would like to know if i need an amplifier for it and if so what sort of amp would i need grateful for any advice you can give thanks

Sorry, but yes you do need some sort of amplifier. What type of speakers are you planning to use with it. Some speakers are "active" or "powered", these have the amplifier built right into them. Others are "passive" and need an external amplifier. The latter are similar to what most home stereos have, with the amplifier being built into the receiver.

You also aren't going to want to plug that unit directly into the amplifier, you're going to want some form of volume control, so a mixer of some sort is in order as well.

How exactly are you planning to use that player? Home use by yourself, small parties with friends, or hosting for hire. Give us some more to go on here and we'll have all sorts of information and advice for you.
