I arrive into NY from Heathrow London on sunday 16th May at 8.55pm I plan to stay a couple of days and hopefully see some of the greatest town in the world before heading to New Jersey to spend a night or so with Steven and Andrea. To get from point A (NY) to point B (L.A) and see as many people and sites along the way within the time allowed is a logistical nightmare

heh I admit to a feeling of excitement too JD and I am trying to find enough cotton wool to wrap myself in...just yesterday I was delivering something to a client and nearly went over on my ankle in the loose shingle on his driveway...visions of plaster casts popped into my head!!!

Same question here for NY... I could also join you in NJ (if you don't mind). Some of my favorite restaurants are located in the Central NJ areas... In the Woodbridge area, I know of a fantastic Steak place, and a Chinese place that makes the BEST Mai Tais. One of my favorite Brazilian Restaurants is located in Newark.

To be honest I dunno...New Zealanders have no concept of the size of USA we live in a tiny country and can basically drive almost anywhere within 24 hours...so I dunno...I think I recall Steven saying he was about an hour from NY city but I could have dreamed that

Wow Cue you are super generous...I only intend to spend one night in NJ with my friends Steven and Andrea and as I am kinda putting upon them anyway to have me to stay, I kinda feel that that night is, well, their night (jeez that sounded kinda pretentious...who tf am I to believe that folks would fall over themselves to meet me)
There is a gent I really want to meet in NY who is on a waiting list for a heart transplant...I really would like to see him in case its the last time I ever get the chance...the rest of the the short time I have there I would love to see some sites and maybe sing some songs, so if you are keen to do that with me I would be thrilled to have a guide

I'm looking forward to seeing a real detailed schedule for the LA area.
(Where you plan to stay, what you want to see, where you want to sing, etc)
Any assistance in the planning phase I can give you is "Just the way it is".
I hang out in Hollywierd, and sing at some of the top clubs around here..

Well, since you said you are arriving on Monday evening, there isn't much to show (as far as site-seeing goes)... that's more of a day thing. I could show you around on Monday (if you want)... and if the Cyclone is open (at Coney Island), maybe we can ride it together.

Party of two? or are you flying solo?
Here is a Hostel 10 miles from LAX, right on Venice Beach. (Must show passport)
http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetail ... geles/1826
I'm assuming you will be flying into LAX from points East or North.
Disneyland is quite close to LAX also.
I suspect LA is a bit more crowded than NZ..
You must sing at "The Brass Monkey", as you never know who will show up.
Last time I was there, Ron Perlman was singing, and his group sat at my table.
I'll email you with more info..

JD that is mind blowing but yanno for me its always just been about the people...I want to catch up with you guys and enjoy the company of the people I have come to be friends with...thats what the trip is about, and if I see some cool stuff along the way then that is great too...fact is, this is the trip of a lifetime for me, and trying to pack as many people into it as possible does stretch the resources so probably disneyland is gonna be bout my lot as far as sites go...and only then cos it kinda nurtures the child inside if you know what I mean
