Has anyone ever experience the mogami cables and if yes, did you noticed the sound difference vs a non mogami cable?

James Randi wants to know if you can:

http://gizmodo.com/305549/james-randi-o ... are-better

The best part of the whole story is this review by Dave Clark, the editor of a Web site called "Positive Feedback Online." Indeed, I've rarely read a review that's more positive than this one for the Anjou:

Simply put, these are very danceable cables. Music playing through them results in the proverbial foot taping scene with the need or desire to get up and move. Great swing and pace—these cables smack that right on the nose big time. In this area, they are simply way better than anything else I have heard prior to their audition.

"Danceable cables," eh? For $7,250, I'd certainly hope so. Randi says that Clark is more than welcome to apply for the $1 million prize; so far, no word if Clark has taken Randi up on his offer.

You can't beat making your own with good quality coaxial cable (for low level audio signals) and decent connectors and heavy duty electrical flex for power applications like speaker cables (the thicker the copper the better).

Cables I made from TV co-ax are still going strong after 20 years !

Cheapskate ain't I ? :D

I use all monster cable. I don't think they are much more expensive and when I have an issue they just exchange it for me.

Obviously people are not familiar with these cables in here, I knew they're more for studio but I was just checking

I only wished I had never tested them, I simply can't use anything else anymore :(

IDK I went to the music store and picked up a Mogmai Cable and then picked up the cheapo store brand. Put them both to my ears and couldn't hear anything ?

The only cables we use are XLR Mogami Gold. We custom order them in different colors (5ft yellow, 10ft green, 15ft blue, 25ft yellow, 30ft red, 50ft blk). We are very happy with the sound, performance, connectors, and lifetime warranty. Bought a few at a time with backups and done for life. Color system makes it very easy.

Nothing. While there may be a large difference in durability between a $5 cable and a $25 cable, and some extremely cheap cables may not lock into mics or panels very well (*cough* Hosa *cough*), a twisted-pair of copper is just that, no matter if it says Monster, Mogami, or Musician's Gear.

Anyone who thinks they can hear the difference is delusional.

I buy these mic cables, because they are durable and relatively inexpensive: http://www.audiopile.net/products/Mic_I ... heet.shtml

It's your opinion  YOU may not hear the difference but it doesn't mean there isn't

No, it really isn't an opinion, it's a factual matter. I know there's a lot of marketing crap from Monster Cable and friends that would like to convince you otherwise, but there is no difference in the electrical properties between any two common mic cables at audible frequencies.

Similarly, there is no electrical difference in any two common speaker cables of the same current-carrying capacity.

I bought a pair of 25' Mogami Neglex Quad 2534 Gold XLR connect. Supposedly the top of the line in the Mogami class cables. A little pricey. $62.95 each on sale @ http://www.guitarcenter.com/MyAccount/C ... no=1129209 Do I hear the difference? My novice ear can't tell, but knowing that I am using an expensive cable is good enough for my peace of mind.

I've never heard an audible difference personally.

I never did either. I own 25' Monster SpeakOn Cables. I also own 50' feet Peavey SpeakOn Cables. There is really no difference in sound. Livewire and Peavey have lifetime warranty also, just much cheaper.

Club manager told me I'm gonna have to move my speakers 5' to accommodate couple of tv's. I have a 25' Mogami Gold XLR cables. If I buy a 6' and interconnect to the existing cables, am I going to have a degradation in sound quality? I really hate to buy a pair of 30 footer if there's not going to be much difference.

At audio frequencies, the only real characteristic of a cable is resistance. Any electrical engineer will be able to tell you that. Zero ohms is zero ohms.

I recommend you use whatever cables you want. This thing about Mogami making a difference is just so much bull. Even if there was a perceptible difference -- which the vast majority of sound pros will tell you there isn't -- it is the type of difference you would only see in a laboratory recording. For live work, just good quality cables should be more than adequate.

For speaker cables? Then you have some resistance considerations with high power. For XLR signal cables? Use any cables you want. Daisy chain them, extend them. No problem.
