Vicky, if you don't have San Francisco in your plan, please consider it. I will definitely take care of you when you are here. Let me know if that works. If not, I can try to drive down to LA but it's about 6.5 hour drive. Depends on my job situation.

Kinda prohibitive for me...but if I do it London first then fly into NY and start my trip there it will cost me $2990 so even with some state hopping it still comes in under the other price. so gona have a couple of weeks in UK and head to US after that...looking at landing in New York bout 14 May and will be in SF Charmin approx 4th June arriving in LA JD 7th and leaving for NZ the 12th these are all approximate as yet cos I havent booked any internal flights yet
what's going on Eben, how have you been.....I bold printed where Vicki says she's comming to SF......hope you get some time for her.....

For my part, LA has the greatest Karaoke clubs available..
No offense to other cities, but damn, we have talent..
I even know KaraokeSammy..
His gig is 2 miles from the house..
If pressed, I will dig out the 4 CD+G disks I have and sing up a storm..

hahahah sounds great I think at this stage it will be the nights of the 16 and 17 in NY city, I wonder if you could maybe look up some cheap accommodation...I have the names of a couple of hostels that have female dorms so maybe they would be ok if you think they look ok...the NY Loft Hostel is $80 for two nights and that includes a continental brekky. Its in Brooklyn. Jazz on the Park is $81 for 2 nights and Fresh HOtel & HOstel is $88 for two nights and is 1/2 mile from Central Park

Johnny Cathi and I are thinking of motoring up from Kentucky to Chitown and if we could go to Bab's show would be excellent...also a couple of blues bars. And any suggestion for cheap accommodation would be excellent too...this is a logistical nightmare

I'm not too familiar with the Brooklyn areas/neighborhoods (even tho I am only a few miles from that borough... I live in Queens). As for the Central Park location, did you get a street address? If it's uptown (like 100th street and above), I wouldn't recommend the area.
Sadly, I don't really know the Hotels or Motels in my own City... I guess that's because I never need to stay at one. I know that to stay in Manhattan, it can be expensive. Yes, there are some cheapie places, but there's also the neighborhood/safety factor. I remember back in 2002, I helped a (now deceased) JOLTer find a place to stay for a week. He stayed in the Midtown Manhattan area, and it cost about $65 a night. The only drawback was that this Hotel didn't have private bathrooms. He didn't mind.
The only thing I can recommend is to check out Hotels.com and see what they are offering. I can tell you whether it is in a safe area or not.

What kind of time-frame are we looking at? Maybe a few others in the Chicago area would like to meet you. Do you email Babs at all(I don't have her email)? I'm not much into Chicago, and where I live is nothing like it(boring & I like that... ), but I will do what I can to help my two friends........What air travel do you pan to do, and what have you finalized?.....pm me anytime, and make sure you post information on here, that would help others figure out when & where they might plan to meet you.

Just think how far that would travel if expelled from 450 ft elevation!

I so want to meet up with you when you are in Chicago. Hopefully you will be doing Bab's weekend show as the Wednesdays are booked up for me doing art at a car cruise night in Milwaukee. I'm about 80 miles from Bab's show. Northwestern suburbs of Chi-town would be your best bet for lodging. Anything in Chicago itself is either costly or sketchy. You can get almost anywhere on the MARTA trains and the buses. One of the few cities in the US where mass transit actually works. Of course you could come up for my Thursday cruise night in Muskego (near Milwaukee) that I DJ and you could entertain us. I will even drag out the extra speakers for monitors. hope you got yer songs memorized as I no longer have a screen monitor available.

I wouldn't mind trying to make it to one of Cathi's Saturday shows. As far as I know, Bab's is usually Wednesday, Friday(crowded), and Saturday(usually least crowded). Any idea when you plan to be in Dallas?
