Hello everyone,
Well as per the title, i am new to the karaoke scene, not the singing side (i have had that pleasure for a few years) but the KJ side, at the moment i have no gigs but i have a decent set up ill list what i have:
1 x Behringher Eurorack UB 1222Fx Pro mixer - i could do with intrustions for this if anybody can direct me ?
2 x JVC XLSV22 CD+G players
2 x Prosound 400 Amps
1 x Shure SM58 Corded mic
1 x Sennheiser E818 SII corded mic
2 x 350w RMS Cont (700w RMS Prog) - what does this mean ? Speakers
1 x studionmaster powerhouse Horizon R1S1oB-2 amped mixer.
Basically, i have quite a high pitched voice but am struggling to play with the sound enough to not make me sound like barry gibb!
People talk about Echo and Reverb and squelch and things like that but im clueless.
My question is...
What advise would you give to a newbie to the scene using this equipments ?
Thanks in advance
Wayne

My suggestion would be find someone locally that you can trust to help you with that. Honestly, based on your question I can tell you've got a ton to learn and there's only so much we can provide on this forum. How did you end up with a bunch of equipment like this that you don't understand how to use?
Search this forum here, you'll find a ton of information and answers. Try googling Pro Audio Basics and read through some of what comes up. That should also help you out quite a bit. From there if you have specific questions, we'll be able to help you along here.

Ah well an offer came up that i couldnt refuse to be honest, the Karaoke scene around here is quite hard to get into as so many people do it so im doing what i can and trying to work it all out so as not to let myself down. With 11,000 tracks to contend with as well im sure that i have the biggest collection around here (okay more than a few are dublicates) but still the biggest im guessing.
Judging by your comments ^^^ i am guessing that the equipment i have should be more than suitable for the job in hand ?
Ill google tonight and see what i can figure out but in the meantime thanks for your help.

I would suggest you set it all up in your living room and start singing. Try different settings...adjust everything to see what makes it sounds better or worse. You wont know what questions to ask until you start getting your feet wet.
