Home Karaoke System : Behringer Powered Mixer PMP9060m $300 Behringer B212XL 12" 800W Passive Titanium PA Speaker $300 for the PAIR Nady DKW Duo VHF wireless Microphones - $40.00
I've used each of those components at one time or another in a profesional karaoke show. The mixer and speaker combo will exceed any home application and the microphones are a great deal and sound good. --TRY THEM like anything else if you don't like it you can always return it for another.
You don't need to spends $2500 for a home set up to get good sound But you have to get better mics than those Nadys. No matter how many times you say they are good, I will say they are junk. Do you think if you say it enough times it becomes true? I'm not sure what I did to you ? But for some reason you want to go out of your way to put down my suggestions. -- I would never suggest to you to use the Nadys. I get it YOU don't like them ....I'm not sure what qualifications you have to determine they are JUNK as you say. I use them ...I think they are good sounding and a terrific buy for $40. And I don't know why I feel I should justify anything to you - FYI - I had a small party this weekend and used the NADYS. Plenty of karaoke was sung and one group of people were musicians from a local band. They each sung songs and aftewards I sat down to talk them ...they were surprised that the mics only cost $40. YES they plastic and light and you can't drop them OFTEN. But they sound GREAT....did you ever think maybe its you that sounds like JUNK ?

I don't really like either brand, but if it only came down to a space issue, i'd definitely go with the Behringer in this case.
I'll second Lonman's suggestion on the mixer. It's the one I use in my system and I have been very happy with it.

I have ears.
I have a constitutional difficulty with listening to anyone say there is a free lunch. There is not. If they were that good, they would be more than $40.00 and you would see people using them all over the place. You don't. And the times I have sang through them have told me exactly why you don't.
So someone can listen to the two of us, and decide if they want to risk $40.00. It may be worth a try, it isn't much money. Heck, maybe you are right. You can't get them for $40.00 any more -- maybe they are being "discovered".
My advice is to not waste your money on junk. Not that I always take my own advice....

MICKY
NADY makes many models of microphones- I'm sure some are JUNK.
You never sung on my set of Nadys. I 've been KJ'ing for over 10 years.
I think I would know JUNK when I hear it. (talking just about sound wise) -I'll give you that QUALITY of build is not up to par with a $600 set.
But again.. The Nady DKW DUO set is an excellant choice for a HOME system or for KJ's who want to offer a wireless microphone to some drunk singer.
Why don't you just spend you time offering your own suggestions instead of picking apart others ?

What are your opinions of the AKG WM 40 Pro Duel Mike set?

I own one, and I like it. I also use a dual set at my service club for about 70 gigs a year. They are durable, have consistent off-axis response, and give you a no-kidding 30 hours on a single AA alkaline. They have been in use 6 times a month for over two years now, with no trouble at all. Bought them on recommendation from here along with talking to a KJ who I found using them.
We use them as our drunk mics, and though they don't sound as good as the SM58s they sound decent. Many singers think they prefer them -- possibly for their nice light feel of control. I far prefer the SM58, and give those to singers I think might care.
Most importantly, they have a very good compander and don't do the overload/buzzing/distortion thing I hear with most cheap mics. They are slightly better than the VocoPro 5800, and quite a bit more durable. (They don't seem that they would be, but they are.)
The combination of that and an SM58 (we have wireless for most uses, wired for the stage) gives both the pro and the drunk what they want.

Got them today and am thinking of setting up my system to test them out but my apartment is rather small for my system.

My advice to the OP is to start with a wired SM58 and save up for a "real" wireless mic down the road. It will sound fantastic for $99. You are in your home...not roaming a crowded bar. The cable is really no big deal.
Remember you can (and will) be upgrading for years to come. Don't try to buy your last system first, cause it WILL change.

Every word above is true (and kind of humorous as I look back at all of my upgrades and changes)
