Vicky, I just looked up the Fresh Hotel & Hostel that you mentioned in Manhattan. Based on the address, that area is in a decent area for Uptown Manhattan. $44 a night is definitely a good price.

just so as you can all keep in touch with the progress I will link you with my photobucket page where I will upload short vids and pics of the places I am visiting.
Now for all the brits there is a live jam planned for 13 may in slough
a couple of live bands and an invitation to walk up and have a go singing live
yeah ok karaoke purists, shoot me!! But is will be about the only chance I will have to get together with folk and meet them
